Surratt (ankle) was waived from IR with any injury settlement Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Surratt was set to spend the 2024 campaign on injured reserve, but he'll now have the opportunity to suit up for another franchise once he can prove himself healthy. The Wake Forest product went undrafted in 2020 and has yet to appear in an NFL game, but he's found spring opportunities in the USFL and UFL since 2022.

After a stint with the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL in 2023, Surratt has found a new home in Arizona. The former wide receiver turned tight end has yet to appear in an NFL game and will likely battle for a depth role on the Cardinals 53-man roster or practice squad as the preseason continues.

Sage Surratt: Returns to USFL
Surratt (undisclosed) signed a contract Wednesday with the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL.
Surratt received an injury settlement from the Chargers back in August and didn't ultimately play in the 2022 NFL season, but his return to the USFL is also a confirmation that he's returned to health. The tight end could get another NFL opportunity at some point in the offseason.

The Chargers waived Surratt (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Monday, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
Surratt played 17 offensive snaps and caught two of three targets for 15 yards during the Chargers' second preseason game, but he was sidelined for the final exhibition game due to an undisclosed injury. Following this settlement, the terms of it will need to be met before he'll be eligible for another opportunity.

Tom Kennedy clearly separated himself from the other depth options Detroit had at wide receiver in camp, and any chance of Surratt making the team evaporated once the Lions acquired Trinity Benson from the Broncos earlier Tuesday. The 6-foot-2 Surratt is still 23 years old and two years removed from an 1,001-yard, 11-touchdown season at Wake Forest. It wouldn't be a surprise if he got another opportunity elsewhere.

Sage Surratt: Set to join Lions
Surratt is expected to sign with Detroit as an undrafted free agent, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
It was a bit surprising to see Surratt go undrafted, considering he was a first-team All-ACC performer in 2020 with Wake Forest. Last season, he racked up 66 catches for 1,001 yards and 11 touchdowns. At 6-foot-2 and 209 pounds, Surratt will bring size to the receiving room in 2021 if he's able to make the roster.
