Draft Scouting Report
Donaven McCulley is a former quarterback who successfully transitioned into a physically imposing perimeter receiver. Standing over 6-foot-4, he uses his massive frame and basketball background to dominate smaller defensive backs in jump-ball situations. While he is still refining his route running, his natural ability to secure difficult catches and his surprising balance after contact make him an intriguing developmental target for a professional offense.
- 2025: Transferred to Michigan (from Indiana, 2021-24)
- High school: Four-star QB recruit
- Solid high-point ability and physicality in contested-catch situations.
- Large catch radius with the skill to secure low, difficult passes.
- Strong runner after the catch who routinely breaks arm tackles.
- Lacks the elite vertical speed to consistently create deep separation.
- Recent history of minor upper and lower-body injuries.
- Still developing technical consistency after a mid-career position change.

Dolphins' Donaven McCulley: Signs with Miami
The Dolphins signed McCulley as an undrafted free agent Friday.
McCulley played at Indiana for four years and started 15 games before transferring to Michigan in 2025. The wide receiver produced 588 yards and three touchdowns on 39 catches over 13 starts for the Wolverines. The Dolphins drafted three wide receivers this year and have acquired a wealth of depth to fill the room, so surviving training camp will be quite the challenge for McCulley.
