Texans' Tytus Howard: Expected to man left tackle
Following the Texans' trade of Laremy Tunsil to Washington, Howard is expected to take over as Houston's starting left tackle, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Howard played left tackle in college at Alabama State but has mostly played left guard and right tackle in the NFL due to Tunsil's presence on the left side. The switch shouldn't be foreign for Howard, even if he needs some time to get his footwork back in order on the left side. With Howard shifting to left tackle, 2024 second-rounder Blake Fisher is expected to man right tackle full time in Houston after playing the final six games of his rookie season at the position.

Texans' Tytus Howard: Good to go against Pats
Howard (hamstring) has no injury designation for Sunday's matchup against the Patriots.
Howard logged his first full practice of the week Friday, and he'll be active for the Texans' Week 6 outing. The 6-foot-5 offensive tackle has missed one game so far this year, and it was last week against the Bills.

Howard was previously dealing with a knee injury but managed to play during Houston's preseason matchup versus the Giants. Now healthy, he is slated to serve as the starting right tackle for the team's Week 1 matchup versus the Colts.

Howard will miss Friday along a slew of Texans players, which should open up an opportunity for offensive lineman Cameron Erving, as right tackle Charlie Heck will also be out. Howard is primed to be a starter on the Texans' offensive line this season if his injury proves to be minor.

Texans' Tytus Howard: Questionable for Friday
Howard sustained an undisclosed injury during Tuesday's practice and sat out practice the following day, Cole Thompson of Texans Wire reports.
Howard left the practice early, headed to the blue medical tent and did not return to the field. Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed Wednesday that Howard "is good" but did not elaborate on the right tackle's status for Friday's preseason tilt against the Steelers.

Texans' Tytus Howard: Ready for training camp

Howard is working his way back from season-ending knee surgery undergone last November, and while he'll likely be eased back onto the practice field at training camp, it's encouraging that he didn't have to begin on the PUP list. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil is also reportedly fully recovered from his knee scope.
