Bears' Montez Sweat: Returns to practice
Sweat (undisclosed) was a full participant in Sunday's practice, Adam Hoge of AllCHGO.com reports.
Sweat had not practiced since early August due to an unknown minor issue. The starting defensive end was afforded time to get healthy and is now set to suit up. The Bears' second preseason contest is against the Bengals next Saturday, and Sweat will likely open the game with the first-team defense for at least a few snaps of live football.

Bears' Montez Sweat: Exits practice with injury
Sweat (undisclosed) left Thursday's training camp session early due to injury, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Sweat headed into the Bears' facility with a trainer but walked on his own as he exited the field. There is no confirmed injury or prognosis for the starting defensive end yet, so it is unclear whether he will need to miss any time. Jeremiah Martin and Austin Booker will likely see increased reps with the first-team defense if Sweat misses any time.

The Bears placed Sweat on the active/non-football illness list Tuesday.
Sweat is expected to be back in action within a few days. The defensive end had a career year in 2025, producing 53 tackles (36 solo), including 5.0 sacks, and added five passes defensed as well as three forced fumbles over 17 regular-season games. The 29-year-old is set to pick up where he left off as the starting defensive end for the Bears.

Sweat recorded four tackles, including two solo, and 0.5 sacks in the Bears' 19-16 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Sweat finished his seventh NFL season with career highs in sacks (10.0) and tackles (53) while reaching the sack column in eight of his final 12 contests. He also added six passes defended, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery, solidifying his profile as a sack-dependent but productive IDP. He is signed with Chicago through 2027 and remains a weekly edge-rusher option.
