Bey was relegated back to the bench after starting Friday in place of Yves Missi (ankle). Even with Zion Williamson (foot) missing Monday's game, Bey remained among the second unit, with New Orleans electing to elevate rookie Jeremiah Fears instead. Despite the lineup carousel being spun due to injury, Bey will still see meaningful time on the court, regardless of his position among the starters or the bench.

Bey was the only bench player to touch 30 minutes of play, but it is worth noting Yves Missi exited the contest early with an ankle injury. Bey paced the second unit in shot attempts, rebounds, assists and steals, and is expected to be a major contributor moving forward, especially if Missi ends up missing time.

Bey said the rehab process was long and that he's just grateful to be back on the court. Even though Bey said he'll be ready for Opening Night, it's fair to expect that the Pelicans will be cautious throughout training camp and the preseason as the team builds him back up. Pelicans' Saddiq Bey: Traded to New Orleans
The Wizards traded Bey (knee), Jordan Poole (elbow) and the No. 40 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft to the Pelicans on Tuesday in exchange for CJ McCollum (foot), Kelly Olynyk (heel) and a future second-round pick, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
Bey missed the entire 2024-25 season with a torn left ACL, though he's expected to make a full recovery ahead of Opening Night in 2025-26. Bey, who turned 26 back in April, could carve out a decent rotation role on the wings in New Orleans. The wing holds career averages of 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.8 steals while shooting 35.2 percent from beyond the arc.
