Walsh logged zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) across five minutes during Saturday's 109-100 loss to Philadelphia in Game 7 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Despite the absence of Jayson Tatum (knee), Walsh didn't benefit. In fact, he logged a series-low five minutes while going without a point. Although the 2025-26 campaign didn't work out exactly as the team had hoped, Walsh at least saw his production improve, as he averaged a career-best 5.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 blocks and 0.7 steals across 17.8 minutes in 68 regular-season appearances (25 starts). While Walsh should hold a stable role in the rotation for the Celtics next season, assuming he remains on the roster, he may have trouble being consistently productive as long as the starters stay healthy.
Walsh isn't starting in Sunday's game against the 76ers.
Walsh started in the Celtics' final three contests of the regular season, most recently finishing with nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 33 minutes in the 113-108 win over Orlando on April 12. However, with a healthy starting lineup for Boston versus Philadelphia, Walsh will head back to the bench, potentially seeing 10-15 minutes of work in Game 1.

With Jaylen Brown (hamstring/knee) and Sam Hauser (thumb) returning from one-game absences and with Nikola Vucevic making his Celtics debut, head coach Joe Mazzulla opted to remove Walsh from the rotation. Though defense is Walsh's calling card, his lack of productivity on the offensive end looks as though it cost him his spot in the second unit Friday. Since moving out of the starting five Jan. 3, Walsh has shot just 38.3 percent from the field and 25.8 percent from three-point range in 18 appearances. Walsh's move outside of the rotation may not necessarily be a permanent one, but even if he gets some minutes in the Celtics' next game Sunday versus the Knicks, he shouldn't be expected to deliver much fantasy value.
