Samuelsson scored twice on three shots, blocked four shots and went plus-4 in Friday's 5-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
This was Samuelsson's first career multi-goal game in the NHL. He had scored just seven goals total in his first five NHL campaigns. The 25-year-old defenseman is off to a positive start with four points, seven shots, 16 blocks, nine hits and a plus-3 rating across six appearances this season. He's done enough to make himself a regular in the lineup, though fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to repeat this performance any time soon.

Samuelsson has five hits, five blocks and a minus-1 rating in addition to his assist over two games. The 25-year-old is holding onto a top-four role, but he won't see the same level of ice time as Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power or Bowen Byram. Samuelsson aggravated an upper-body injury in late September and is considered week-to-week. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Thursday's Opening Night matchup against the Rangers, but it was at least encouraging to see him back on the ice for Monday's practice session, even though he practiced in a limited capacity. Both helpers came in the first period as the Sabres jumped out to a lead they would never relinquish. Samuelsson (lower body) was officially ruled out through the 4 Nations Face-Off break by head coach Lindy Ruff on Wednesday, per Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.
Samuelsson's placement on injured reserve effectively ruled the blueliner out for Saturday's matchup against the Predators, but his absence has now been confirmed by Ruff. Across his last nine appearances, the 24-year-old Samuelsson has generated one goal on 14 shots, three assists and 21 blocks while averaging 19:00 of ice time. Look for Owen Power to see an uptick in ice time while Samuelsson is on the shelf.
