Caufield scored for the third time in four games, He extended the lead to 3-0 on a power play at the mid-point of the second period from below the goal line that went in off Tristan Jarry's skate. It was Caufield's 17th goal of the season. That puts him in a seven-way tie for ninth in the NHL.

Caufield scored a power-play goal Saturday in a 2-1 shootout win over Toronto.
Caufield's goal extended his point streak to 10 games and 12 points (three goals, nine assists). The slippery sniper is on a career pace with 15 goals and 15 assists in 27 games. His previous career mark came last season with 37 goals and 70 points in 82 contests. It's important to note, though, that Caufield's 20.3 shooting percentage is significantly above his career 13.2 mark and well above the 15.4 he put up last season. He may be able to sustain it, but it will take some luck.

Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Shootout hero Wednesday
Caufield picked up a power-play assist and had the only successful attempt in the shootout during Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Jets.
After helping to set up Juraj Slafkovsky for Montreal's first goal midway through the second period, Caufield opened the shootout by going five-hole on Eric Comrie. The assist extended Caufield's point streak to nine games, a hot streak in which he's racked up two goals and 11 points.

Caufield has slowed down a bit with three goals and one assist over his last six outings. The 24-year-old winger is still in a top-line role, but the Canadiens' offense has fallen a little flat against tough defensive teams over the last week or so. For the season, Caufield has 13 goals, 19 points, 44 shots on net, 17 hits and a plus-8 rating through 18 appearances. He's shooting 29.5 percent, which likely won't last all year, but he should still be among the better goal-scorers in the league.

He's been one of Montreal's most productive players this season, with 12 goals and 18 total points in 15 games, and he's riding a productive stretch of four multi-point performances in the Canadiens' last seven outings.

Caufield was coming off a three-point performance (two goals, one assist) in the 4-3 win over Seattle on Oct. 28, and the 24-year-old winger has been a key player for the Canadiens of late. He's notched three multi-point performances over his last four games, tallying five goals, two assists, a plus-3 rating and 13 shots on goal over that stretch. Caufield has recorded at least 65 points in his last two seasons, and even though it's still early, he looks on pace to do that again in 2025-26 since he has 15 points in his first 12 appearances.

Caufield has regularly been worth the price of admission this season, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him end up with his first 40-goal campaign by the end of 2025-26.

Caufield scored two goals, one the game-winner in overtime, during Tuesday's 5-4 victory over the Kraken.
The 24-year-old winger gave the Canadiens a 2-1 lead midway through the second period when he grabbed a loose puck and wired it past Joey Daccord from the faceoff dot. Caufield then ended the night in style, finding a small gap at the near post above Daccord's shoulder with a sharp-angle shot for the winner. After being held off the scoresheet in Montreal's season opener, Caufield has gotten rolling with three goals and five points in the last three contests. He is looking to match or surpass the career-best 37 goals and 70 points he recorded over 82 regular-season games in 2024-25.

Caufield put the Canadiens ahead 2-1 in the second period. The winger has three goals, one assist, 21 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over four playoff outings, with two of his three tallies coming on the power play. The Canadiens have had success on the power play and through the top line, but the Capitals' superior depth has enabled Washington to take a 3-1 series lead.
