  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Moves to IR

Hughes (finger) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site. The Devils announced Saturday that Hughes will likely be out until at least early January after undergoing surgery on his finger. He has amassed 10 goals, 20 points, 69 shots on net and 10 blocked shots over 17 appearances this season. With Hughes landing on the IR list, the Devils opened a roster spot to activate Connor Brown (upper body) or Evgenii Dadonov (hand) ahead of Tuesday's matchup against Tampa Bay. If Brown and Dadonov are both ready to play, New Jersey will need to make an additional move.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Undergoes surgery

Hughes is expected to miss about eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his finger, the team announced Saturday. Hughes will be evaluated after the six-week mark. He has amassed 10 goals, 20 points, 69 shots on net and 10 blocked shots over 17 appearances this campaign. After being limited to 62 outings in each of the last two regular seasons, the 24-year-old forward is poised for another lengthy absence. Nico Hischier will likely receive an increased role while Hughes is unavailable.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Suffers hand injury

Hughes suffered a hand injury, the team announced Friday, and he's expected to miss Saturday's game in Washington. Hughes cut his hand in a "fluke accident" during a team dinner Thursday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Hughes is still being evaluated, so an exact timetable for his recovery hasn't been revealed. He's been a key part of the Devils' offense with 10 goals and 20 points through 17 appearances this year. Juho Lammikko will probably draw into the lineup Saturday and serve in a bottom-six role, but who will move into the top six is less certain. Connor Brown (upper body) probably would if he was healthy, but he's not believed to be ready to return, and Cody Glass (undisclosed) might not be an option either. If Glass isn't available, then perhaps Stefan Noesen will move up to the top six.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Contributes two assists

Hughes logged two assists, three shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blackhawks. Hughes has gone a season-high four games without a goal, but he has a pair of two-assist outings in that span. He set up third-period tallies by Dawson Mercer and Simon Nemec to help the Devils erase a pair of deficits before they ultimately got the win in the extra session. For the season, Hughes is up to 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) with 69 shots on net and a plus-3 rating across 17 appearances. He's looking to exceed a point-per-game pace for the fifth straight year, and he's on the right track for that as long as injuries don't derail his campaign.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Two helpers against Habs

Hughes produced two assists in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over Montreal. The 24-year-old center popped for his fifth multi-point performance in the last 10 games by helping to set up Ondrej Palat's first goal of the season in the second period, and Timo Meier's game-tying tally late in the third. Hughes has nine goals and 15 points over that 10-game surge, and it's been so far so good on the health front -- he hasn't played more than 62 regular-season games in a campaign since 2022-23.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Scores lone goal in loss

Hughes scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Ducks. Hughes saw his four-game point streak end in Saturday's win over the Kings, but he was back on the scoresheet Sunday with a third-period tally. The 24-year-old has been playing to his full potential early in 2025-26 with 10 goals and 16 points over 13 appearances. He's added 44 shots on net, eight blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating. Hughes should be a lock for virtually all fantasy lineups through offense alone.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Posts another multi-point game

Hughes recorded a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Avalanche. Hughes assisted on Dougie Hamilton's goal and added one of his own with a snap shot at the 14:12 mark of the second frame. Hughes has recorded four multi-point performances across New Jersey's last six games and continues to deliver excellent value as the team's primary playmaker and scoring threat. The 24-year-old star center is up to nine goals and 14 points through 10 games.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Registers third multi-goal game

Hughes scored twice on two shots and added a plus-1 rating during his 22:43 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Avalanche. Hughes' two goals included the overtime game-winner on which he was left all alone in front and buried it from in tight. This was the 24-year-old Devils star's third multi-goal outing of the season, all of which have come in the last five games. Hughes is up to eight goals on the year, tied for the most in the NHL with Shane Pinto.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Ties game on power play

Hughes scored a power-play goal on eight shots in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Panthers. Hughes' goal in the second period was his first tally of the season. He's added a pair of assists, 16 shots on net and a minus-3 rating across four contests. Hughes has plenty of talent and plays a prominent role for the Devils, so it's only a matter of time before more shots start to find the twine.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Supplies power-play helper

Hughes logged a power-play assist, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Monday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets. Hughes has a pair of helpers, eight shots on net and a minus-2 rating through three games on the year. A slow start is not too unusual -- Hughes' 2024-25 campaign ended with shoulder surgery, though he was healthy by the start of training camp and worked without limitations. He's scored at least 26 goals in four straight years despite missing at least 20 games in three of those seasons, so the 24-year-old center should continue to offer high-end offense.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Says he's healthy to begin camp

Hughes (shoulder) said Thursday that he's healthy and feeling good as training camp gets underway, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Hughes made 62 regular-season appearances for New Jersey last year, logging 27 goals, 43 assists, 29 blocked shots and 18 PIM while averaging 20:54 of ice time. However, he missed the end of the year after undergoing shoulder surgery. Despite his procedure, he indicated that he's back to full health for the start of camp and is eager to get back on the ice ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Done for season

Hughes underwent shoulder surgery and was placed on long-term injured reserve Wednesday. He's expected to be ready for training camp. Hughes suffered the injury during the third period of Sunday's 2-0 loss to Vegas. He'll finish the 2024-25 campaign with 27 goals and 70 points in 62 appearances. Hughes is a vital part of the Devils' forward corps, and this is a devastating blow to say the least. New Jersey holds the third seed in the Metropolitan Division with a 33-24-6 record, but its playoff spot isn't secure. Hughes comes with an $8 million cap hit, so putting him on LTIR does give the Devils a lot of flexibility going into the deadline, but they'll have to evaluate if they want to be buyers when they're also expected to miss Hughes for the playoffs. If the team doesn't make changes before Friday's trade deadline, then Dawson Mercer will probably serve in a top-six capacity and feature on the first power-play unit for the remainder of the season.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Awaiting further test results

Hughes (undisclosed) is awaiting the results of some additional tests but remains without a timeline to return, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports Tuesday. At this point, it's fairly safe to assume that Hughes won't be an option against the Stars on Tuesday, though his non-update update should be a red flag for fantasy players. In his last 10 outings, the 23-year-old center has racked up eight goals and four assists, including two points with the man advantage. Dawson Mercer will move into a second-line center role with Hughes on the shelf.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Injured in Vegas

Hughes (undisclosed) was injured in the third period of Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Golden Knights and there was no update on his status after the game, Sam Kasan of the Devils' official site reports. Hughes crashed into the boards late in the game after an inadvertent collision with Vegas' Jack Eichel. Before departing, Hughes registered two PIM and three shots on goal in 21:54 of ice time. When asked about the 23-year-old postgame, head coach Sheldon Keefe said "There's no update. He's going to have to be evaluated. Obviously it didn't look good. We're gonna have to take our time to know the full extent of it." With Keefe's comments in mind, Hughes is unlikely to be available Tuesday in Dallas, though he should be considered day-to-day until the full scope of his injury is known.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Scores lone goal in loss

Hughes scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche. Hughes has stayed hot in February with seven goals and two assists over seven contests this month. His tally was all the Devils could muster against Mackenzie Blackwood in this game. Hughes has matched his goal total from last season (27) and is up to 69 points, 222 shots on net and a plus-11 rating across 60 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Two snipes in loss

Hughes scored twice in a 4-2 loss to the Stars on Saturday. Hughes scored a power-play goal at 10:00 of the third period to get the Devils on the board, cutting the score to 2-1. He then reduced Dallas' lead to 3-2 at 11:40 with a snap shot from the left circle after Matt Duchene replied to his first goal. Hughes leads the Devils with 67 points (26 goals, 41 assists), and he's in the NHL's top-10 scorers.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Collects two points Saturday

Hughes notched one goal on one shot and added an assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over Montreal. Hughes had the secondary helper on Paul Cotter's goal in the second period and scored his 24th tally of 2024-25 in the third frame. The 23-year-old Hughes has failed to earn at least one point in only one game over his last eight outings, collecting six goals and four assists. He has 41 helpers and 65 points through 57 appearances this season.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Lights lamp twice against Pens

Hughes scored two goals in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Penguins. The 23-year-old center opened the scoring late in the first period by banging home a rebound before he gave the Devils a 2-0 lead midway through the second with a one-timer from the slot. Hughes extended his point streak to six games in the process, and over the last 14 contests he's racked up eight goals and 17 points.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Pots shorty Sunday

Hughes scored a shorthanded goal on three shots and went minus-3 in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres. Hughes was set up by linemate Jesper Bratt after Buffalo turned the puck over on the power play early in the third period, but that goal concluded the scoring in Sunday's contest. This was Hughes' first shorthanded goal of his career in his sixth NHL campaign. The 23-year-old's deployment on the penalty kill is a testament to the growth that has occurred in his game -- he rarely saw the ice in shorthanded situations over his first five seasons. Hughes is up to 21 goals, 61 points and a plus-7 rating through 54 appearances in 2024-25. The 2019 first-overall pick can extend his point streak to six games Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

  • Devils' Jack Hughes: Nabs power-play assist

Hughes logged a power-play assist and four shots on goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins. Hughes had been held off the scoresheet over the prior two games, which had seen the Devils limited to a total of two goals against the Flyers and Senators. The 23-year-old was able to get back on the scoresheet Wednesday when he assisted on a Stefan Noesen tally in the second period. Hughes is up to 56 points (25 on the power play), 185 shots on net and a plus-9 rating over 50 appearances this season.
