Lightning's Sam O'Reilly: Shows playmaking side Friday
Rotowire
O'Reilly logged three assists and two shots on net in OHL London's 6-1 win over Erie on Friday.
O'Reilly was limited to two goals over his first four games of the OHL campaign. The No. 32 pick from 2024, O'Reilly is in the Lightning's system after getting flipped for Isaac Howard over the summer. O'Reilly could be a steady defensive center in the NHL some day, as he's displayed strong but not elite offense in the junior ranks.

Lightning's Sam O'Reilly: Flipped to Tampa
Rotowire
O'Reilly was traded to the Lightning from the Oilers on Tuesday in exchange for Isaac Howard.
Howard was not interested in signing with the Lightning, so the 2022 first-round pick was flipped for O'Reilly, who the Oilers selected 32nd overall in 2024. He's farther back in the development pipeline compared to Howard, which is fine for a Lightning team that can afford to be patient. O'Reilly logged 71 points in 62 regular-season games, 22 points in 17 playoff contests and five points in five outings during the Memorial Cup for OHL London in 2024-25. Those are fine numbers, but O'Reilly projects as a middle-six option once he gets to the NHL. The 19-year-old will likely spend all of 2025-26 with London again.

Oilers' Sam O'Reilly: Inks entry-level deal
Rotowire
O'Reilly agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with Edmonton on Monday.
O'Reilly is off to a solid start to his junior season with OHL London, recording two goals and three assists through his first seven appearances. Selected by the Oilers with the 32nd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the 18-year-old winger probably won't see any NHL ice time this year but could at least push for a spot on the roster for 2025-26.
