Power (illness) was activated from injured reserve Saturday.
Power could make his season debut in Saturday's matchup against Boston. He missed time during training camp due to a minor strain, which resulted in him starting the 2025-26 campaign on injured reserve, but he sat out Thursday's season opener versus the Rangers because of an illness. The 22-year-old defender had seven goals, 40 points, 139 shots on net and 109 blocked shots across 79 regular-season appearances in 2024-25.

Head coach Lindy Ruff said Wednesday that Power (strain) should be available for Thursday's Opening Night matchup against the Rangers, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.
Power was placed on injured reserve Monday due to a minor strain, but it doesn't appear as though he'll be forced to miss time to begin the regular season. The 22-year-old made 79 regular-season appearances last year, racking up seven goals, 33 assists, 109 blocked shots, 26 hits and 16 PIM while averaging 21:19 of ice time.

Power is in danger of missing the regular-season opener Thursday against the Rangers, though it's unclear exactly how long he'll be sidelined for. Michael Kesselring (undisclosed) was also placed on injured reserve Monday, so Rasmus Dahlin and Bowen Byram will likely log heavy minutes during the early portion of the campaign. Power hit the 40-point mark for the first time in his career (seven goals, 33 helpers) in 2024-25, so he should be a key player for the Sabres when healthy this year.

Power's absence against the Penguins on Wednesday was described as a minor strain, but now the blueliner finds himself missing a second straight game, albeit a minor-league one. Ruff didn't rule out Power from suiting up in Wednesday's preseason game versus Pittsburgh, but it seems unlikely that the 22-year-old defenseman will be available for that matchup. Power (lower body) is fully healthy ahead of the 2025-26 season, according to Justin Alpert of the Sabres' official site on Tuesday.
Power missed the last three games of 2024-25 after sustaining a lower-body injury April 12. The 22-year-old blueliner avoided surgery and is back in Buffalo participating in informal skates ahead of training camp. Sabres' Owen Power: Erupts for three points
Power tallied a goal, registered two assists, had two shots on goal and blocked two shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime win against the Bruins.
Monday was Power's best all-around performance this season, as he filled the stat sheet in almost all areas. His marker was the lone goal of the second period and would ultimately send the game to overtime. Both of Power's assists were on separate power plays, and the latter of his two helpers was a shot redirected by Alex Tuch for the game-winning goal. With his performance Monday, Power is up to seven goals, 28 assists, 122 shots on net and 100 blocks in 66 appearances this season. The 22-year-old blueliner set a new career high in goals Monday and tied his career high for points in a season with 35. Power ranks third on the Sabres in helpers and has a bright future in the NHL. In fantasy, Power is heating up and has good value in deeper leagues with the postseason approaching.

Power fired two shots on goal, blocked three shots and recorded one hit in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canadiens.
Power remains one of the most valuable defensemen on the Sabres, regularly filling up the stat sheet even when he's not scoring. He's failed to log a point in three consecutive games, but it was preceded by a stretch of points in six of seven games, so there's nothing to worry about with Power. He has 31 points (six goals) through 59 appearances in 2024-25, putting him on pace to shatter his career best in points (35) in his young career. The 22-year-old remains a good fantasy option.
