Sabres' Justin Danforth: Placed on injured reserve
Danforth (lower body) was put on injured reserve Saturday, per the NHL media site.
Danforth left Wednesday's 8-4 win over Ottawa because of the injury, and he will be on the shelf for at least a month. The 32-year-old has no point, a minus-2 rating, two PIM, two shots, three hits and four blocks in four appearances this year. Mason Geertsen, who was a healthy scratch for two of Buffalo's opening four games, might play regularly on the fourth line while Danforth is unavailable.

Per Heather Engel of NHL.com, Danforth (lower body) will miss more than one month, according to head coach Lindy Ruff on Friday.
Danforth was injured Wednesday versus the Senators. He has yet to pick up a point in four games this season. Expect Danforth to return in a bottom-six role, when he comes back, likely in November or December.

Sabres' Justin Danforth: Exits Wednesday's game
Danforth (lower body) won't return to Wednesday's game versus the Senators.
It's not clear what caused Danforth's injury. The 32-year-old forward was up on the second line for this contest but managed just 6:14 of ice time. If Danforth can't play Saturday versus the Panthers, Josh Dunne or Mason Geertsen could enter the lineup, while Jiri Kulich or Josh Doan would be most likely to gain ice time.

Sabres' Justin Danforth: Secures two-year deal
Danforth signed a two-year, $3.6 million contract with Buffalo on Tuesday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Danforth reached the 20-point threshold with Columbus this past season despite playing in just 61 games due to injury. If the Ontario native can secure a top-six role with the Sabres, in addition to earning a spot with one of the power-play units, he could challenge his career-best 26 points set back in 2023-24 with the Jackets.

Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: Goal-scorer's touch in win
Danforth had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over the Senators on Tuesday.
Danforth's goal was beauty. He skated into a clearing attempt, toe-dragged Nikolas Matinpalo at the edge of the right circle and went roof-daddy glove side on Anton Forsberg from the slot. He pushed the score to 2-0. It was Danforth's first goal in eight games and his first points in six. He has 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in 56 outings this season. Danforth is living the NHL dream -- he has just 178 appearances at age 32 -- but that doesn't make him a fantasy asset.

Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: Lights lamp Friday
Danforth scored a goal on three shots in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Penguins.
Danforth's goal came early in the second period. It appeared to initially be an own goal by the Penguins, but assists were later awarded to Mathieu Olivier and Damon Severson on the tally, which doesn't happen on own goals. Danforth has three goals and two assists through 10 outings in March, which is fine production for a middle-six forward. He's up to eight goals, 17 points, 75 shots on net, 99 hits, 44 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating over 48 appearances. Earlier injuries will deny him a realistic chance at matching his career-high 26 points from 2023-24.

Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: Nets goal vs. Rangers
Danforth scored a goal in Sunday's 7-3 win over the Rangers.
Danforth has found the back of the net twice in the Blue Jackets' last four games, but it's worth noting that he scored with his lone shot of the game Sunday. The winger has seven goals and 15 total points this season, but he's going through his most productive stretch of the campaign. Four of his goals, and six of his points, have come across an 11-game stretch since the beginning of February.

Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: Two points including winner
Danforth scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Red Wings.
His third-period winner could easily have been wiped out -- Danforth broke free from two Detroit defenders with the help of a high stick to the face of Simon Edvinsson, but it didn't get called by the refs. It was Danforth's first multi-point performance since Nov. 9, and the checking-line center has a modest six goals and 14 points through 39 appearances on the season.

Danforth has four points over his last seven outings, and he's scored in back-to-back games. His tally gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead in the first period. Danforth is up to five goals, 12 points, 59 shots on net, 76 hits and 36 blocked shots over 35 appearances. He'll likely continue to see middle-six minutes while Columbus' center depth is thin.

Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: Opens scoring Thursday
Danforth scored a goal and added two hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to Utah.
This was Danforth's first goal since Nov. 18. He went 18 contests without scoring, though he also missed 18 games in that span due to a lower-body injury. The 31-year-old, a natural winger, has moved to center to help the Blue Jackets while Sean Monahan (wrist) is out and Cole Sillinger is playing in a top-six role on the wing. Danforth is at 11 points, 58 shots on net, 75 hits, 35 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating over 34 appearances this season, so his fantasy upside is limited to deep formats with an emphasis on non-scoring numbers.

Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: Snags helper Sunday
Danforth produced an assist and five hits in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Stars.
Danforth has two assists over seven contests since he returned from a lower-body injury. The 31-year-old forward has filled a bottom-six role since his return, so a lack of offense shouldn't come as a surprise. He's managed 10 points, 57 shots on net, 70 hits, 34 blocked shots and a minus-8 rating through 32 outings overall.

Blue Jackets' Justin Danforth: First point since return
Danforth logged an assist, three shots on goal, four hits and two blocked shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Kings.
The helper was Danforth's first point in four games since he returned from a lower-body injury that cost him over a month. The 31-year-old forward has resumed a bottom-six role, and he's valued for his defensive work and physicality. That won't necessarily make him a strong fantasy option. Danforth has nine points, 55 shots on net, 62 hits, 33 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating over 29 appearances in 2024-25.
