Flames' Devin Cooley: Holds on for shootout win
Cooley stopped 28 of 30 shots in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Stars.
Cooley let a 2-0 lead slip away in the third period, but he redeemed himself by turning aside three of four shootout attempts. He's won his last two starts -- in the last two games -- and he is now 2-2-1 with a 1.81 GAA and a .935 save percentage. Success may be counter-productive for the Flames' long-term plans this year, but Cooley is giving the team a strong enough performance between the pipes that should allow Dustin Wolf to get more rest. Wolf will likely start the Flames' road-trip opener in Vancouver on Sunday.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Facing Stars
Cooley will be between the home pipes versus Dallas on Saturday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Cooley picked up his first win of the campaign in a 6-2 victory over Buffalo on Wednesday. He is 1-2-1 with a 1.80 GAA and a .935 save percentage over six appearances this season. Dallas is tied 10th in the NHL this year with 3.24 goals per game.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Nabs first win of season
Cooley turned aside 28 shots in Wednesday's 6-2 win over Buffalo.
The 28-year-old netminder collected his first win of the season with a sharp performance that included denying the Sabres on all 13 of their shots in the third period as the Flames began to pull away. Cooley has made only six appearances this season while working behind Dustin Wolf, going 1-2-1, but his usage could increase considering he has yet to allow more than three goals in any of those outings, resulting in a 1.80 GAA and .935 save percentage.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Between pipes in Buffalo
Cooley will start in goal on the road versus the Sabres on Wednesday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.
Cooley will get the nod in the second half of a back-to-back. The 28-year-old has given up just seven goals on 108 shots over five appearances, but he's 0-2-1 on the year. The Sabres have been heating up with 18 goals over their last five games, though they have just two wins in that span.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Set for third start
Cooley is getting the start Sunday against the Wild, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Cooley is set to make his fifth appearance this season but just his third start; his other two appearances have been in relief. The 28-year-old has been good when called upon but is seeking his first win of the season, entering Sunday's contest with a 0-1-1 record, a 1.98 GAA and a .933 save percentage. He will face a Wild team that has won three of its last four games, scoring three goals or more in all four contests.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Gets no help in loss
Cooley allowed one goal on 18 shots in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Wild.
Cooley made his fifth appearance (third start) of the season, but he once again didn't get enough support from the Flames' offense. They've scored just four goals over his three starts this season. Cooley is 0-2-1 with a 1.75 GAA and a .935 save percentage in 2025-26, but he won't offer much of a challenge to Dustin Wolf's status as the Flames' starter. Despite the good numbers, Cooley is not a strong fantasy option, as he is unlikely to rack up many wins behind a weak offense.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Perfect in relief against Predators
Cooley stopped all 12 shots he faced over the final two periods of Saturday's 4-2 loss to Nashville.
Starter Dustin Wolf allowed three goals on 11 shots in the first period, and the final goal was an empty-netter. Cooley doesn't have a win yet, and he's started just two games. Still, his 1.98 GAA and .933 save percentage sparkle beside Wolf's 2-8-1 record with a 3.63 GAA and an .881 save percentage. Watch for Cooley to get a start soon to see if he can give the poor-performing Flames a jolt.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Falls to Ottawa in shootout
Cooley turned aside 35 shots in regulation and overtime but failed to stop either shootout attempt he faced in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Senators.
The 28-year-old netminder was making just his second start and third appearance of the season, but Cooley did well just to earn the Flames a point in the standings, and there wasn't much he could do on any of the three pucks that got past him in regulation. Dustin Wolf is firmly entrenched as the No. 1 in net, but neither goalie will have much success behind a team that continues to flounder in its own end. Cooley is 0-1-1 and has given up six goals on 78 shots (.923 save percentage) to begin his Calgary tenure.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Starting against Ottawa
Cooley will defend the road crease against Ottawa on Thursday, Eric Francis of Sportsnet reports.
Cooley has seen limited playing time this season, but he'll draw the road start against the Senators, who are tied for fifth in the NHL with 3.64 goals per game. Over two appearances in the 2025-26 campaign, Cooley has gone 0-1-0 with a 2.28 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Works in mop-up duty
Cooley stopped eight of nine shots in relief of Dustin Wolf in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Golden Knights.
Cooley played the third period and held his own. The Flames have scored just two goals in Cooley's two appearances -- that's too low to help him have a chance at collecting wins. Wolf remains the starter but has struggled mightily early in the season under a heavy workload, so Cooley may get more looks until Wolf gets on track. Neither goalie is a great fantasy play for the start at home Monday versus the Jets.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Loses team debut
Cooley stopped 29 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Mammoth. The third goal was an empty-netter.
While he took the loss in his Flames debut, he kept the game from getting out of hand. Cooley won't be expected to play much behind burgeoning star goalie Dustin Wolf, but performances like this one should help Cooley stay with the big club. Expect Wolf back between the pipes for Saturday's game in Vegas.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Guarding cage versus Mammoth
Cooley will patrol the crease on the road against Utah on Wednesday, Eric Francis of Sportsnet reports.
Cooley will take the second game of the Flames' back-to-back after Dustin Wolf tends the twine versus Vegas on Tuesday. It will be the 28-year-old Cooley's opening game of the season and first with Calgary. Looking ahead to the rest of the campaign, Wolf should see the bulk of the workload, leaving around 20-25 starts for Cooley.

Cooley spent the 2024-25 campaign with AHL Calgary, posting a 21-17-5 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .905 save percentage. He has played six games at the NHL level, all with San Jose in the 2023-24 season, going 2-3-1 with a 4.98 GAA and an .870 save percentage. Barring an injury to Dustin Wolf or Ivan Prosvetov, Cooley will likely spend most of 2025-26 in the AHL.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Sent down Sunday
Cooley was demoted to AHL Calgary on Sunday.
Cooley's demotion would point to Dan Vladar (lower body) being healthy enough to serve as the backup against the Bruins on Tuesday. While the 27-year-old Cooley has yet to play in an NHL game for the Flames, he is performing well in the minors with a 14-3-0 record and .942 save percentage in 18 outings for the Wranglers.

Flames' Devin Cooley: Called up Friday
Cooley was recalled from AHL Calgary on an emergency basis Friday.
Cooley was sent to the minors ahead of the regular season, but he'll join the NHL club on an emergency basis since Dan Vladar is considered day-to-day due to a lower-body injury. Dustin Wolf will likely see most of the playing time if Vladar is unavailable, but Cooley will provide additional goaltending depth while Vladar is banged up.

Cooley was moved to waivers Sunday, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
Cooley earned a 2-3-1 record with a 4.98 GAA and an .870 save percentage across six regular-season outings with the Sharks in 2023-24. His likely demotion to AHL Calgary will result in the Flames beginning the 2024-25 campaign with netminders Dustin Wolf and Dan Vladar on the Opening Night roster.

Cooley signed a two-year contract with the Flames on Monday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports. The agreement is a two-way deal for the 2024-25 campaign, but it becomes a one-way contract in the second season.

Cooley surrendered two goals in the opening period and another three in the first seven minutes of the second before the 26-year-old netminder was replaced by Georgi Romanov for a second straight game. It was a tough finish to the year for Cooley, who allowed 13 goals on 45 shots in his final two outings. He'll finish the campaign with a 2-3-1 record, an .870 save percentage and a 4.98 GAA.
