Hill has a couple of tough losses after regulation time on his ledger, with this outing being a little better than his season debut versus the Kings (five goals allowed on 26 shots). The Golden Knights' defense is holding up its end of the bargain by keeping the shot count low -- it's on Hill to get them the saves they need. Vegas visits Calgary on Tuesday for its next game.

Hill stopped 21 of 26 shots in Wednesday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Kings.
Hill's season debut wasn't great, especially after he allowed two goals over the last nine minutes to squander a 5-3 lead. The 29-year-old stopped just one of three attempts in the shootout to complete the Golden Knights' collapse. The good news is that his team's offense is looking strong early on, which should give Hill some leeway if he's unable to replicate his 2.47 GAA and .906 save percentage from 50 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. Should Hill struggle, Akira Schmid could get a chance to carve out a timeshare in the crease. It'll likely be Schmid between the pipes for Thursday's contest in San Jose as the Golden Knights begin a three-game road trip.

Hill did everything he could to keep the Golden Knights' season alive, but his best performance of the playoffs still wasn't enough. The 29-year-old allowed 16 goals over five games against the Oilers in the second-round loss. Hill's status as the Golden Knights' top goalie isn't in question moving forward -- he signed a six-year extension with the team in March, so he'll continue to see substantial playing time for a contender heading into 2025-26.

Hill is set to start at home against Edmonton for Game 5 on Wednesday, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.
Hill will look for a better result after allowing at least three goals in each of his first four games against Edmonton in the second-round series. Hill stopped 32 of 37 shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Hill was done in by a bad second period, in which he allowed three goals in a span of 5:46. The Golden Knights bounced back from that, and Hill had some redemption during overtime when he helped kill off Nicolas Roy's major penalty for cross-checking. Leon Draisaitl still gave the Oilers the win at 15:20 of the extra session. Hill has surrendered nine goals on 65 shots over two games in the second round. Still, it doesn't seem likely that the Golden Knights would turn the crease over to Akira Schmid or Ilya Samsonov, especially given the power of the Oilers' offense. Game 3 is in Edmonton on Saturday.
