Panthers' Tyler Motte: Suiting up against Bolts
Motte (lower body) will be in the lineup for Tuesday's clash with Tampa Bay, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Motte is trying to earn a permanent contract after joining the Cats on a PTO for training camp. He'll have three preseason games -- all against the Lightning -- to prove himself to team brass. If he does sign with the club, don't be surprised to see him ink a two-way contract that allows him to shift between levels. Even when up with the big club, Motte could frequently find himself serving as a healthy scratch.

Panthers' Tyler Motte: Unavailable Monday
Motte (lower body) will be sidelined versus the Hurricanes on Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Motte seems like a long shot to get into the lineup versus the Lightning on Tuesday but hasn't been officially ruled out. With the veteran center in camp on a PTO, he probably can't afford to miss a lot of time, though the injury to Aleksander Barkov (knee) figures to open up a roster spot ahead of Opening Night against the Blackhawks on Oct. 7.

Panthers' Tyler Motte: Exits with injury
Motte (lower body) left Wednesday's preseason game versus the Hurricanes for precautionary reasons, per Armando Velez of The Hockey News.
It sounds like the Panthers didn't want to push things with Motte, who is in camp on a professional tryout agreement. The 30-year-old can be considered day-to-day ahead of the Panthers' next preseason contest, which is a rematch with the Hurricanes on Monday.

Panthers' Tyler Motte: Lands PTO with Cats
Motte signed a professional tryout agreement with Florida, NHL Insider Frank Seravalli reports Wednesday.
Motte will be competing with fellow PTO signee Noah Gregor for a spot on the defending Stanley Cup champions' roster. With the Wings last year, the 30-year-old center notched four goals and five helpers while averaging just 11:19 of ice time. Even if Motte does make the team, it figures to be in a fourth-line role that could include some stints in the press box as a healthy scratch.

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Finds twine Friday
Motte scored a goal on two shots, added two hits and blocked three shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Lightning.
Motte has held down a fourth-line role when healthy this season. He's earned four points over his last 14 games, and he's up to nine points, 60 shots on net, 68 hits, 47 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating across 52 appearances. His limited offense makes him a poor option in most fantasy formats.

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Contributes helper
Motte produced an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Friday's 5-3 win over the Hurricanes.
Motte has four points over 16 contests since the start of March as a bottom-six regular for the Red Wings. The 30-year-old forward won't do a lot on offense, but he's played well enough to stay in the lineup since Andrew Copp (pectoral) was ruled out for the year. Motte is now at eight points, 54 shots on net, 63 hits, 39 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating across 48 appearances in 2024-25.

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Picks up assist in loss
Motte notched an assist in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Utah.
Motte has played in six straight games, but this was his first point since Jan. 7 versus the Senators. The 29-year-old has been limited to five points over 35 contests this season while occasionally being a healthy scratch and also contending with injuries earlier in the campaign. He's added 40 shots on net, 45 hits, 24 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating in a fourth-line role.

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Filling in on fourth line
Motte played in his third straight game in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jackets.
Motte is filling in for Michael Rasmussen (upper body). The 29-year-old Motte has had his own injury issues at times this season, though he's no lock for the lineup even when healthy. He's at four points, 37 shots on net, 43 hits and a minus-12 rating across 32 appearances. Motte has never earned a 20-point campaign and has virtually no chance to get there in 2024-25, so he's not a fantasy option in the vast majority of formats.

Motte was hurt in a collision along the boards in the second period. The 29-year-old forward has earned two helpers over six outings in December, but he's not particularly noticeable for fantasy. He should be considered day-to-day ahead of the start of the Red Wings' road trip, which begins against the Panthers on Thursday.

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Puts away goal
Motte scored a goal in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Canadiens.
This was Motte's first point over eight appearances in December. He converted on a pass from Michael Rasmussen, who stole the puck to create the goal. The 29-year-old Motte is at just two goals with 24 shots on net, 26 hits, 17 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating through 19 outings this season. He plays in the bottom six, and given he's never had more than 19 points in a single season, he's not a particularly intriguing forward for fantasy.

Motte scored a goal on five shots and blocked two shots in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Devils.

Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Available if needed
Motte (upper body) is an option against the Blackhawks on Wednesday but may serve as a healthy scratch, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Motte failed to register a point in his first four appearances this season, so it shouldn't be a shock that he won't immediately re-claim a spot in the lineup now he's healthy enough to play. If he does break into the lineup, it will likely come at the expense of Joe Veleno, Christian Fischer or Michael Rasmussen.
