Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Out 3-4 months
Laine underwent core muscle surgery Saturday and will be out of action for 3-4 months.
Laine had only one assist in five games before he left the lineup with the injury. It's a big blow to the Montreal power play after Laine had 15 goals with the man advantage last season. Based on his current timeline, he might return at the end of January or late February.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Seeking second opinion
Laine will get a second opinion regarding his lower-body injury, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports Wednesday.
Laine is still considered day-to-day, but the fact that he isn't ready to play against the Flames on Wednesday likely also rules him out versus the Oilers on Thursday. The 27-year-old winger is still looking for his first goal of the season. He has one assist through five appearances. Laine will need to get healthy and heat up to reach the 20-goal threshold for the fourth time in five years.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Won't play Monday
Laine (lower body) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Sabres, Stu Cowan of The Montreal Gazette reports.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Out of action Saturday
Laine (lower body) will not play at home versus the Rangers on Saturday.
It has not been a good start to the season for Laine as he has only one assist and six shots on goal in the first five games. He was demoted to the second power-play unit and was seeing fourth-line ice time before the injury. The Canadiens recalled Owen Beck from AHL Laval to take Laine's spot in the lineup. The 27-year-old Laine is day-to-day, but it's unclear if he will be ready for Tuesday's game against Buffalo.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Notches first assist
Laine logged an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Kraken.
Laine set up Ivan Demidov for the game-tying goal late in the third period. The 27-year-old Laine has once again featured as a power-play specialist early in 2025-26, but unlike last year, the puck isn't going in for him yet. He has one helper, six shots on net and a minus-2 rating through four contests. He's also on the fourth line at even strength, though he'll occasionally get shifts higher in the lineup when the Canadiens need a goal.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Ready to rock
Laine (finger) participated in Thursday's practice as the Canadiens opened training camp.
Laine sustained a broken finger in the playoffs, but he appears to be at full strength for training camp. The 27-year-old skated in the group that did not scrimmage Thursday, but that group is scheduled to do so Friday. Laine is projected for a second-line role to begin the season.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Suffered broken finger
Laine missed the last three games of Montreal's first-round series versus Washington due to a broken finger, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports Friday.
Laine suffered the injury in Game 2 and labored the remainder of the contest before sitting out the rest of the series. Laine had 20 goals and 13 assists in 52 regular-season games, including 15 goals on the power play. Laine is expected to be fully recovered before the start of training camp in September.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Won't return Wednesday
Laine (upper body) will miss Game 5 against Washington on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Laine is set to miss his third straight game. He had 20 goals and 33 points across 52 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. Montreal is down 3-1 in its first-round series, so the Canadiens need to win in order to force a Game 6 on Friday. If that happens, then perhaps Laine will be an option for that game.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Remains day-to-day
Laine (upper body) is still day-to-day, per Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette on Tuesday.
Laine practiced Tuesday after missing the last two outings, but it's unclear if he will play in Wednesday's must-win matchup with the Capitals. He had one assist and six shots on goal in two appearances before getting hurt. If Laine is unavailable for Game 5, Oliver Kapanen and Michael Pezzetta are on hand as potential replacements.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Absent from morning skate
Laine (upper body) is not present at morning skate and is unlikely to play Sunday against the Capitals, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
It appears that Laine will miss a second game after suffering the injury in Game 2 of the series. The 27-year-old Laine has one assist in the playoffs after tallying 20 goals and 33 points in 52 regular-season contests.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Out of action Friday
Laine (upper body) is day-to-day and won't play Friday versus the Capitals in Game 3.
Laine appeared to be laboring during Game 2 on Wednesday, logging just 10:10 of ice time with one shot on net. He'll draw out for at least one game, and he'll continue to be evaluated on a daily basis. That said, the Canadiens enter Friday down 2-0 in the series, so he may not have much time to get right again.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Earns helper in playoff opener
Laine logged a power-play assist, five shots on goal, three hits, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals in Game 1.
Laine snapped a five-game point drought with the helper. The winger took a shot that led to a second chance for Cole Caufield to bury midway through the third period. Laine was a big threat on the power play during the regular season, earning 19 of his 33 points, as well as 15 of his 20 goals, with the man advantage over 52 games. That said, his even-strength role has been fairly limited in Montreal, so he'll need to stay productive on the power play to make an impact.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Hits 20-goal mark with game-winner
Laine scored a goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Predators.
Laine is a 20-goal scorer for the seventh time in his career, with the last three instances coming in seasons heavily impacted by injuries. This was a rare even-strength tally for the winger -- 15 of his goals have been on the power play this season. He's up to 33 points, 106 shots on net and a minus-12 rating across 47 appearances.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Nets power-play goal
Laine scored a power-play goal in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Panthers.
Laine's tally with a man advantage was the opening goal of the game and would be the first of two power-play goals the Canadiens scored Sunday. The 26-year-old winger is up to 19 goals, 32 points and 100 shots on net in 43 appearances this season. Laine continues to prove his value for Montreal as a power-play threat this season, which is where he's earned 19 of his points. He has five goals and eight points in his last nine contests since his return from a brief illness. Laine should challenge for the 40-point mark by the end of the regular season and is within striking distance of posting his sixth 25-goal campaign in his nine-year NHL career. The winger has excellent value in all formats while Montreal looks to hold onto the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Tickles twine in loss
Laine scored a goal on five shots in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Flyers.
This was Laine's first even-strength goal since Feb. 25 versus the Hurricanes. The 26-year-old has been superb at finding the net this season, racking up 18 goals on 98 shots, good for an 18.4 shooting percentage. He's added 13 assists, 26 blocked shots, 22 hits and a minus-12 rating through 41 appearances. He's scored 14 of his 18 goals on the power play.

Canadiens' Patrik Laine: Posts multi-point effort
Laine scored a power-play goal, dished an assist and tallied four shots on net in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Islanders.
Laine helped his newest linemate Joshua Roy score his first goal of the season before finding the back of the net on a third-period power play. The 26-year-old Laine has been effective in limited action this season with 17 goals, 12 assists and 87 shots on net across 38 appearances. The right-shot winger has a good amount of momentum heading into the fantasy playoffs with five points in his last four games and 11 in his last 10. Laine should finish the campaign shy of a point-per-game pace but has excellent fantasy value in all formats.
