Oilers' Connor McDavid: Two goals in comeback win
McDavid scored twice on three shots and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Mammoth.
McDavid provided the insurance tallies for the Oilers, scoring late in the second period and adding an empty-netter in the third. The 28-year-old hasn't had trouble putting pucks on net this year, but his shots haven't been going in with much frequency yet. He's at three goals, 14 points, 31 shots and a minus-2 rating across 11 appearances, with all three of his tallies coming in the last five games.

Oilers' Connor McDavid: Distributes three assists
McDavid logged three assists, including two on the power play, and added three shots on goal in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Canadiens.
McDavid was right at the heart of the Oilers' third-period comeback, setting up goals by Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The 28-year-old McDavid has multiple helpers in three of eight games to begin the year. He's produced one goal, 10 assists, 25 shots on net and a minus-2 rating. He's too talented to shoot 4.0 percent for a long stretch, so expect his luck to turn around soon.

Oilers' Connor McDavid: Gets first goal of season
McDavid scored a goal Tuesday in a 3-2 OT win over Ottawa.
It was his first goal in seven games this season. McDavid opened the scoring at the 16:31 mark of the first when he one-timed a centering pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the power play. Yes, the superstar has gotten off to a relatively quiet start, but McDavid still has eight points, including seven assists, and 22 shots in seven games this season.

Oilers' Connor McDavid: Two helpers in New Jersey
McDavid notched two assists in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Devils.
Both helpers came on tallies by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, but the Oilers' offense didn't have much else going on in the afternoon affair. McDavid has a five-game point streak going to begin the season, and while he's still looking for his first goal of 2025-26, the 28-year-old superstar already has seven assists.

Oilers' Connor McDavid: Opens season with two assists
McDavid provided a pair of assists, including one on the power play, and five shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames.
While we won't get to enjoy contract-year McDavid after he signed a two-year deal Monday, his regular level of production is still quite exciting. He helped out on first-period tallies by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Andrew Mangiapane to open his account for 2025-26. McDavid has logged at least 100 points in eight of the last nine seasons, and that's the bare-minimum expectation for him as long as he can stay relatively healthy. He could be more productive this year if he's able to increase his shot volume -- he averaged just 2.9 shots per game in the 2024-25 regular season, his lowest mark since his rookie year.

Oilers' Connor McDavid: Signs two-year extension
McDavid agreed to terms on a two-year, $25 million contract extension with Edmonton on Monday.
McDavid's deal comes in well short of the massive contract just signed by Kirill Kaprizov ($17 million AAV). Still, it is a short-term bridge deal that will allow McDavid to cash in sooner by going with significantly less term. The world-class center will also be able to see how much the team progresses over the next three seasons before deciding whether to commit to Edmonton long term. McDavid figures to be a lock for the 100-point mark, a threshold he's reached in five straight campaigns, and he should be near the top of the league in points -- as long as he doesn't miss significant time due to injury like he did last season, when he was limited to just 67 regular-season games.
