Oilers' Zach Hyman: Won't return for Saturday's game
Hyman (wrist) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Rangers and Saturday's game against Chicago, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports.
The Oilers were initially hopeful that Hyman could return in time for Saturday's matchup against the Blackhawks. However, head coach Kris Knoblauch said Wednesday that the 33-year-old will require at least another week on the shelf. While Hyman will miss several more games and is considered week-to-week, it still seems possible that he'll be able to make his season debut sometime in the first half of November.

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Oilers looking at Nov. 1 return
Head coach Kris Knoblauch said Thursday that Hyman (wrist) is targeting a return around Nov. 1, Tom Gazzola of Edmonton Sports Talk reports.
Hyman has been out since the Western Conference Final, as he broke his wrist May 27 and eventually required surgery. Hyman is likely going to play alongside Connor McDavid on the top line upon his return, as McDavid has only one goal and seven assists in seven games, which is considered a slow start for the NHL's top star.

Trent Frederic is set to be the biggest beneficiary of Hyman's absence, as the former is slated to the start the year on the top line next to Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Out until November
Hyman (wrist) isn't expected to be ready to return until Nov. 1, per Mark Spector of Sportsnet on Thursday.
Hyman underwent wrist surgery in late May. He had 27 goals and 44 points in 73 regular-season appearances last year, which was down from 83 and 77 points during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 regular seasons, respectively. When Hyman's healthy, he'll likely rejoin the top line alongside Connor McDavid.

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Not ready for start of camp
Hyman (wrist) won't be ready to join the Oilers for the beginning of training camp, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports.
Hyman underwent surgery to address a wrist injury in late May and is progressing in his recovery, but he'll need some additional rehab time ahead of the regular season. He's no longer in a cast and has resumed skating, but he'll spend some time away from the team to begin training camp. It isn't yet clear whether he'll be ready for the Oilers' regular-season opener against the Flames on Oct. 8, but it seems likely that he'll at least be in the mix to return around that time.

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Recovery on track
Hyman (wrist) is continuing his recovery from surgery and doesn't expect the process to last much longer, according to the team Wednesday.
Hyman sustained a wrist injury and underwent surgery in late May. He described it as a long rehab but also expressed optimism that he is near the end of the process. The winger doesn't have a solid timeline for his return and may still miss part or all of training camp, but he is with the rest of Team Canada's Olympic orientation camp group this week in Calgary. It's unclear if he is taking part in any on-ice activities.

Oilers' Zach Hyman: Status uncertain for training camp
Hyman (wrist) said Wednesday that he isn't sure whether he'll be ready for training camp, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
Hyman is unavailable for the Stanley Cup Finals against the Panthers due to a wrist injury that he sustained last week that required surgery.
