Sharks' Ryan Reaves: Placed on IR
Reaves (lower body) was put on injured reserve Sunday, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News.
The Sharks recalled Ethan Cardwell in a corresponding move. Reaves is day-to-day after being injured in Thursday's 5-2 win over New Jersey. He will miss his second straight game against Detroit on Sunday, and it's unclear when he will be ready to return. Reaves has two goals, six shots on net, 37 hits and 10 PIM across 10 appearances this season.

Reaves was recalled from AHL Toronto on Friday, according to Dave McCarthy of NHL.com.
Reaves was placed on waivers prior to the NHL trade deadline March 7 and subsequently sent to the minors after he passed through waivers. The feisty winger had two assists, 28 PIM and 103 hits across 35 NHL regular-season games with Toronto before his demotion. He could see some playoff action if coach Craig Berube thinks that some of his players are being taken advantage of by the opposition.

Reaves played in just seven of 13 games for Toronto in January. The 38-year-old winger could have a lighter workload following the returns of John Tavares (lower body) and Matthew Knies (upper body). Reaves will still offer a veteran alternative if Nicholas Robertson's performance slips or Pontus Holmberg and David Kampf see the occasional scratch since the Maple Leafs are close to full health up front. Maple Leafs' Ryan Reaves: Supplemental discipline looming
Reaves received a match penalty and will likely face supplemental discipline for an illegal check to the head of the Oilers' Darnell Nurse in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win.
Reaves drove his shoulder up into an unsuspecting Nurse's jaw, snapping his head and flipping him over before he smacked the ice hard. Nurse's face was cut badly, and he initially couldn't get up on his own. He left and didn't return. Reaves is averaging about eight minutes of ice time and has played in 16 games. His greatest value is in his hitting, but he can't help if he's suspended. We'll know more before Toronto's upcoming game against Vegas on Wednesday.
