Umanmielen (shoulder) was not listed on the Panthers' injury report Wednesday.
Umanmielen had been nursing a shoulder injury he sustained during Carolina's preseason finale versus the Steelers, but it looks like he will be good to go for the start of the regular season. The rookie projects to play a depth role on the edge in 2025.

Panthers' Princely Umanmielen: X-rays clean
Umanmielen (shoulder) underwent X-rays, which came back clean, after Thursday's 19-10 preseason loss to the Steelers, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Umanmielen left Thursday's contest in the first half after suffering a shoulder injury, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. The edge rusher said that his X-rays didn't reveal anything, and he thinks he'll be fine. Umanmielen will now shift his focus to ensuring he's ready for Week 1 versus the Jaguars on Sept. 7.

Panthers' Princely Umanmielen: Ruled out for rest of Thursday
Umanmielen (shoulder) has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's preseason contest against the Steelers, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Umanmielen suffered a shoulder injury in the first half, and it will now officially bring his night to a premature end. He will now shift his focus to being ready for the team's regular-season opener against the Jaguars on Sept. 7.

Umanmielen sustained a shoulder injury in the first half against the Steelers, and it's currently unknown if he'll be able to return to action. The 23-year-old secured a solo tackle before his departure, and Umanmielen's status will be morth monitoring moving forward.

Panthers' Princely Umanmielen: Panthers add Round 3 pass rusher
The Panthers selected Umanmielen in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 77th overall.
Umanmielen (6-foot-4, 244 pounds) emerged as a productive starter during his third year at Florida (2022) before transferring to Mississippi in 2024, producing 24.5 tackles for loss and 22 sacks over those three seasons. Umanmielen is a bit light to play defensive end but has standout athleticism to work with (4.72-second 40-yard dash, 38-inch vertical jump) and excellent reach. Umanmielen and second-round pick Nic Scourton could prove to be a standout starting edge duo for Carolina in due time.
