Saints' Hunter Dekkers: Inks deal with New Orleans
The Saints signed Dekkers on Wednesday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Less than a week after getting cut by New Orleans, Dekkers is already back with the team ahead of its preseason opener Sunday. As the preseason goes on, he'll likely be competing for the third slot on the quarterback depth chart with 2023 fourth-rounder Jake Haener.

Hunter Dekkers: Cut by New Orleans
The Saints waived Dekkers on Thursday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
New Orleans doesn't have the reps to give Dekkers, as the team is trying to sort out its starting quarterback situation by giving second-round rookie Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener meaningful snaps this summer. Dekkers will try to find work as a camp arm elsewhere.

Saints' Hunter Dekkers: Signs with Saints
The Saints signed Dekkers as an undrafted free agent Wednesday.
Dekkers completed 302 of his 457 pass attempts for 3,044 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions during his final season at Iowa Sate in 2022 before playing in junior college in 2024. As the Saints currently lack proven talent at quarterback, Dekkers could be a candidate to land with the team's practice squad.
