Falcons' Nathan Carter: Full practice Thursday
Carter (hamstring) was a full participant at practice Thursday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official website reports.
Carter was forced to miss the team's Week 4 win over the Commanders due to a hamstring injury, but he now appears to be all set for Week 6. The running back will likely be back in his role as the No. 3 option behind Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier on Monday Night Football against Buffalo.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Ruled out for Week 4
Carter (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Commanders, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Carter carried the ball seven times for 46 yards in garbage time during last Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Panthers. With Carter out for Week 4, the Falcons could elevate Carlos Washington from the practice squad to serve as the RB3 behind Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Gets garbage-time action
Carter rushed seven times for 46 yards during Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Panthers. He also lost a fumble.
The undrafted rookie was a healthy scratch for Week 1, but he's been active the past two games. He saw only one offensive snap during his NFL debut in Minnesota on Monday Night Football, but he got more playing time during Sunday's blowout loss. Carter didn't see any offensive snaps until the Falcons' final drive, but he got the ball on each play of the drive and looked good until he fumbled on his final touch. As long as Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier are healthy, there won't be many meaningful snaps for Carter except in outlier game scripts like Sunday's.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Healthy scratch Week 1
Carter is inactive for Sunday's regular-season opener against Tampa Bay, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Carter made Atlanta's initial 53-man roster following a strong preseason, but he's not expected to see much work on offense this season with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier heading the Falcons' backfield. Carlos Washington, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday, will serve as the team's third RB in Week 1.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Makes initial 53-man roster
Carter made the Falcons' initial 53-man roster Tuesday.
The Falcons cut Jashaun Corbin and Carlos Washington on Tuesday, leaving Carter as the No. 3 RB behind Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier to open the campaign. Carter is an undrafted rookie out of Michigan State and ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at his pro day. He finished the preseason with 16 rushing attempts for 85 yards in three games and scored the Falcons' only rushing touchdown, a 43-yard run against the Titans.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Makes little impact Friday
Carter carried the ball four times for 10 yards in Friday's 31-13 preseason loss to the Cowboys.
The rookie UDFA out of Michigan State was the second running back into the game for Atlanta after Jashaun Corbin, getting his first touch on the team's second possession, but Carter did little with his opportunities and was out-shone by both Corbin and Elijah Dotson in the exhibition finale. Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier are locked into the top two spots on the RB depth chart, but the No. 3 role could be wide open with Carlos Washington (hamstring) having missed the entire preseason. Carter may have missed his chance Friday to pull away from the pack.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Rips off 43-yard TD
Carter took nine carries for 63 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for nine yards on as many targets in Friday's 23-20 preseason loss to Tennessee.
Carter made his mark in the second half when he tore off a 43-yard scamper for his first touchdown of the preseason. The undrafted free agent started Friday's contest with Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier resting for the second consecutive game, helping Carter boost his case for the No. 3 role as the regular season approaches.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Leads backfield with 12 yards
Carter rushed three times for 12 yards and failed to bring in his lone target in Friday's preseason game against the Lions.
Carter wound up leading the Falcons in rushing despite seeing just three carries Friday. Jashaun Corbin received the first carry of the night but gained just one yard on what would be his only tote. Both tailbacks are fighting for reserve spots behind Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier this upcoming season. Carter's next opportunity to showcase his skills this preseason will come against the Titans next Friday.

Falcons' Nathan Carter: Agrees to terms with Atlanta
Carter has signed with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Carter went undrafted out of Michigan State but didn't take long to find a landing spot as a UDFA. He'll compete for a depth role in training camp in a Falcons backfield that has Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier entrenched in the top two spots on the depth chart. Carter had 499 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns for the Spartans in 2024 while adding 173 yards and two scores on 18 catches.
