Saints' Kendre Miller: Three touches to close preseason
Miller rushed three times for 15 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Saints' 28-19 preseason loss to the Broncos on Saturday afternoon.
Miller handled the first running back opportunity for the Saints and rattled off gains of eight and seven yards on his first two carries, with the second one wiped out by an offensive holding call. The oft-injured 2023 third-round pick is getting a fresh start with the new coaching staff in New Orleans, and he seems to be locked into the No. 2 role behind Alvin Kamara heading into a Week 1 home matchup against the Cardinals.

Saints' Kendre Miller: Corralled versus Jacksonville
Miller logged six carries for 21 yards during Sunday's 17-17 preseason tie versus Jacksonville.
Miller started for the second exhibition game in a row while top running back Alvin Kamara continues to rest during the preseason. The 2023 third-round pick struggled to find much room to run due to New Orleans' spotty offensive line play. But he generated a 13-yard pickup while running through and avoiding traffic on his second carry of the game. Miller had another 12-yard gain taken off the board due to an offensive-holding penalty in the second quarter. He's yet to do much during his regular-season career, but the 2023 third-round pick looks like he has a clear hold on the No. 2 running back spot behind Kamara, as veteran backups Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Cam Akers totaled 14 rushing yards on six combined carries versus the Jaguars.

Saints' Kendre Miller: Underwhelming against LAC
Miller took six carries for 15 yards and brought in his only target for nine receiving yards in Sunday's 27-13 preseason loss to the Chargers.
Miller got the start with star running back Alvin Kamara resting as he usually does for exhibition play. The 23-year-old Miller didn't perform particularly well with the increased opportunity, but it was a positive sign to see the running back healthy after suffering a concussion in the second to last game of the 2024 regular season. Veteran backups Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Cam Akers both failed to reach double digits in rushing totals, so the No. 2 job in New Orleans is still Miller's to lose.

Saints' Kendre Miller: Healthy entering Year 3
Miller (concussion) participated in voluntary OTAs on Thursday, while starter Alvin Kamara (groin) was not in attendance, Luke Johnson of NOLA.com reports.
Miller missed New Orleans' regular-season finale due to a concussion in 2024, after a pair of hamstring injuries had forced him to miss all but two of the team's first 12 games; however, he's now fully healthy. Miller will turn only 23 in June, so he still has an opportunity to secure the No. 2 role behind Kamara, a three-down workhorse who is entering his age 30-season. Clyde Edwards-Helaire and rookie sixth-rounder Devin Neal represent Miller's top competition for backup reps. Head coach Kellen Moore said he views this offseason as "a blank slate" for Miller, per John Sigler of USA Today, but the reality is that the 2023 third-round pick is likely running out of chances to prove he can stay healthy. Injuries have limited Miller to just 14 regular-season appearances (out of 34 possible games) since entering the league, and he's mustered 80 carries for 304 yards (3.8 YPC) and two scores in that span.
