Sua Opeta: Gets released
Tampa Bay released Opeta (knee) on Monday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Opeta just returned to action earlier in August after tearing his ACL during training camp last year, but he won't make the Buccaneers' final 53-man roster for 2025. Now that he's healthy though, he'll be free to sign with another club and suit up right away.

Buccaneers' Sua Opeta: Ready to practice
Opeta (knee) was cleared to start practicing Wednesday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Almost a year removed from tearing his ACL last preseason, Opeta is finally back on the practice field. The 28-year-old signed a one-year, $1.17 million contract in March to return to Tampa Bay. Before getting hurt last season, Opeta had a chance to compete for a starting guard spot, but with the Buccaneers returning the entire offensive line, he will likely be considered a depth piece.

Buccaneers' Sua Opeta: No timetable for return
Opeta (knee) has no timeline for his return from a torn ACL, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Bucs coach Todd Bowles said the guard has dealt with setbacks in his recovery process since suffering the injury last August, per Auman. Opeta would likely have had a chance to compete for a starting guard spot in 2024, but Tampa Bay returns all five starters from its line a year ago, including guards Cody Mauch and Ben Bredeson.

Buccaneers' Sua Opeta: Lands on PUP list
The Buccaneers placed Opeta (knee) on the active/PUP list Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Opeta is still dealing with the torn ACL suffered last August that landed him on Tampa Bay's injured reserve, forcing him to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign. The team can activate him at any point before the regular season begins, and once healthy, he will likely serve as the backup left guard behind Ben Bredeson.

Buccaneers' Sua Opeta: Re-signs with Tampa Bay
The Buccaneers re-signed Opeta (knee) on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Opeta spent the entire 2024 campaign on IR due to an ACL tear sustained early in training camp, but the 28-year-old should be cleared for the start of offseason activities. He'll offer valuable depth for the interior of an O-line that returns all five starters.
