Buccaneers' Zyon McCollum: DNP on Wednesday
McCollum (thumb) didn't practice Wednesday.
McCollum suffered a thumb injury during the Buccaneers' Week 4 loss to the Eagles. He was able to play against the Seahawks in Week 5 but has since undergone a procedure for the injury, which puts him in jeopardy of missing Sunday's game against the 49ers. McCollum's practice participation over the next two days will shed light on his odds of playing Sunday, but his absence would open the door for Kindle Vildor, Josh Hayes and rookie second-rounder Benjamin Morrison (hamstring) to see additional snaps on defense.

Buccaneers' Zyon McCollum: Undergoes thumb procedure
Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters Wednesday that McCollum had a procedure done after sustaining a thumb injury in the Week 4 loss to the Eagles, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Bowles noted that McCollum's status for Sunday's matchup against the 49ers will come down to the end of the week, but he was spotted with his left arm in a sling Wednesday, which suggests he's likely trending in the wrong direction. McCollum's practice participation throughout the week is expected to provide the best indication of whether he can suit up in Week 6. If he's unavailable, Josh Hayes is likely to take over as one of Tampa Bay's top outside corners.

McCollum tallied four tackles (all solo) in Sunday's Week 4 loss to Philadelphia.
McCollum logged all of Tampa Bay's defensive snaps for the third straight week. Through four contests, he's posted 28 tackles but does not yet have a defensed pass on his ledger after recording 17 over 17 regular-season games last year.

McCollum totaled nine tackles (all solo) in a 29-27 win over the Jets on Sunday.
McCollum finished second on Tampa Bay in tackles behind Lavonte David, who had 11. Through three games, McCollum has racked up 24 stops, racing out of the gate as he looks to surpass the career-best 82 tackles he recorded over 17 regular-season games last year. However, he doesn't yet have a defensed pass on his ledger after recording 17 of them during the regular season in 2024.

McCollum tallied five tackles (four solo) in Tampa Bay's win over the Texans.
McCollum was dealing with a neck injury throughout the week leading up to the game, but that didn't seem to slow him down as he ended up playing every defensive snap in addition to finishing second on the team in tackles behind Tykee Smith's 10. The 26-year-old is coming off the best season of his young career where he recorded 82 tackles (55 solo) and two interceptions in 17 games, and will look to have similar production over the remaining 15 games of the current campaign.

McCollum (neck) practiced in full Friday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
A neck issue resulted in McCollum logging a limited practice session Thursday, but he appears to be past the injury given his return to full participation Friday. He'll therefore almost certainly be on the field Monday against Houston after registering 10 tackles in Tampa Bay's season-opening win against Atlanta.

McCollum likely tweaked his neck during the Buccaneers' 23-20 win over the Falcons in Week 1, when he tallied 10 tackles (seven solo) while playing 74 of 76 defensive snaps. He'll have two more opportunities to log a full practice and avoid an injury tag heading into the Bucs' Week 2 clash against the Texans on Monday.

Buccaneers' Zyon McCollum: Lands $48M extension
The Bucs signed McCollum to a three-year, $48 million contract extension Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The deal contains $35.4 million guaranteed and has McCollum under contract through the 2028 campaign. The 26-year-old was set to enter the final year of his rookie deal after starting all 17 regular-season games last season, a year in which he recorded 82 tackles (55 solo), 17 pass breakups, including two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. McCollum is penned in as a starting cornerback opposite Jamel Dean in Tampa Bay.
