Evans (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys.
Evans likely sustained a hamstring injury in Carolina's Week 5 win over the Dolphins that's now holding him out of Sunday's contest. The fourth-year pro has played just seven defensive snaps through five games, so his absence will likely have minimal impact on the Panthers' defense in Week 6.

Evans is working with the second-team defense to begin OTAs. He has recovered from the rib injury he suffered in Carolina's 2024 season finale. Evans could earn a larger role in the secondary with a strong camp.

Panthers' Akayleb Evans: Won't return to Week 18 clash
Evans (ribs) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest against Atlanta, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Evans was hurt early in the second quarter and was ruled out just after halftime. While he was in the game, the Missouri product logged two tackles (both solo). Evans will finish the 2024 campaign with five tackles over nine games between Minnesota and Carolina.

Panthers' Akayleb Evans: Exits game due to rib injury
Evans (ribs) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Falcons, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Evans injured his ribs during the second quarter of Sunday's game. He got the start at outside corner for Jaycee Horn (hip), but Caleb Farley will likely fill in for as long as Evans is sidelined.

Panthers' Akayleb Evans: Picked up by Carolina
The Panthers claimed Evans off waivers Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The third-year corner from Missouri was waived by the Vikings on Saturday after playing almost strictly on special teams (just three defensive snaps in seven games) this season, but he's already found a new home in Carolina. Evans played 832 defensive snaps across 15 regular-season games with the Vikings in 2023, recording 65 total tackles and seven passes defended, including one interception. He's now expected to serve as a depth piece in the Panthers' secondary.

Akayleb Evans: Cut by Vikings
Minnesota is waiving Evans on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Evans was a fourth-round selection by the Vikings in the 2022 NFL Draft and started all 15 regular-season games in which he played last season. However, he's been used almost exclusively on special teams this year, logging only three defensive snaps over seven contests. Undrafted rookie Dwight McGlothern, who has yet to play this season while consistently being a healthy scratch on gameday, could start to see some work with Evans now out of the mix.

Evans has missed the Vikings' last three games due to a hip issue, but his ability to practice in full Thursday indicates he should be able to return against the Jaguars on Sunday. Evans has mostly played on special teams and has registered two tackles (one solo) across six regular-season games.
