Saints' Pete Werner: Ruled out for Week 18
Werner (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against Tampa Bay, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Werner was in concussion protocol throughout the week and wasn't able to be cleared ahead of the Saints' season finale. He'll thus miss his fourth game of the campaign. Werner will finish 2024 with 92 tackles (54 solo) -- one shy of his career-best mark -- along with one pass defensed over 13 contests. He's signed with New Orleans through the end of the 2026 season.

Saints' Pete Werner: Questionable for Week 18 finale
Werner (concussion) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bucs, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Werner was concussed in last Sunday's loss to the Raiders and remains in the league's protocol. Clearing protocol in one week's time isn't typical anymore in the NFL, so he should be considered genuinely questionable for the Saints' Week 18 season finale. Through 13 games this season, Werner has logged 92 tackles (54 solo) and one pass breakup.

Saints' Pete Werner: Returns to practice Thursday
Werner (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Werner entered concussion protocols following the Saints' 25-10 loss to the Raiders this past Sunday. He was unable to practice Wednesday, so his ability to participate in a limited capacity Thursday indicates he is progressing in his recovery. Werner would have to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol in order to play in Sunday's regular-season finale against Tampa Bay.

Saints' Pete Werner: In concussion protocol
Werner did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to a concussion.
Werner had a team-high 13 tackles (seven solo) during the Saints' Week 17 loss to the Raiders. The 2021 second-round pick likely injured his head during the game and was diagnosed with a concussion following further tests after the contest. Werner would have to clear the league's five-step concussion protocol in order to play in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Buccaneers.

Saints' Pete Werner: Leading tackler in loss
Werner recorded 13 tackles (seven total) during Sunday's 25-10 loss versus the Raiders.
Werner was kept busy in a game where Las Vegas ran the ball 38 times, and he reached double digits in the tackle department for the first time this season. He's eight tackles away from his first 100-tackle season going into a Week 18 matchup at Tampa Bay.

Saints' Pete Werner: Six tackles in Week 14
Werner registered six tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 14-11 win over the Giants.
Werner has logged at least five tackles in each of the Saints' last six games. He's up to 63 tackles (43 solo) and one pass defense across 10 regular-season games. Werner and the Saints' defense weren't really tested against the Giants, but they'll have their hands full against a Commanders team that put up 42 points against the Titans in Week 13.

Saints' Pete Werner: Solid day in loss
Werner recorded eight tackles (seven solo) during Sunday's 21-14 loss versus the Rams.
Werner tallied eight-plus tackles for the third time in his last five games in Week 13. He's been his usual self this season, dutifully filling gaps in the run game and pitching in sparingly in other facets. He'll be on the IDP radar as a high-floor option when the Saints travel to take on the Giants in Week 14.

Saints' Pete Werner: Officially active for Week 11
Werner (hand) is active for Sunday's game against Cleveland.
After logging consecutive DNPs to open the week due to a hand injury, Werner was able to practice in a limited capacity Friday, which is good enough for him to suit up for Sunday's contest. Over his last three outings, Werner has logged 22 tackles (16 solo) and one pass defense.

Saints' Pete Werner: Expected to play Sunday
Werner (hand) is expected to be active for Sunday's game against the Browns, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Werner suffered a hand injury in Week 10 against the Falcons, which caused him to miss the first two practices of the week. He was able to practice in a limited capacity Friday to earn himself a questionable tag for Sunday's game, and it appears the 2021 second-round pick will be available to play.
