Colts' Adonai Mitchell: Relegated to smaller bench role
Mitchell did not have a reception on his lone target and played just six snaps on offense in the fourth quarter in Sunday's blowout 40-6 win over Las Vegas. He moved to the second-team unit after making several mistakes in the prior week's loss to the Rams, the Indianapolis Star reports.
With Alec Pierce (concussion) missing his second straight game, it was Ashton Dulin who moved into the starting three-receiver set and played on 47 of the offense's 66 snaps, resulting in two receptions for 55 yards. Mitchell was demoted due to dropping the football prior to passing the goal line to wipe out a would-be 76-yard touchdown and then committing a holding penalty to negate a 53-yard rushing touchdown in Week 4. It's not clear if Mitchell's fall down the depth chart will last just one week or be a longer-term move.

Colts' Adonai Mitchell: Set for decreased role in Week 5
Mitchell is expected to handle a more limited role on offense during Sunday's game against the Raiders, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Mitchell was given an opportunity at a larger role in Week 4 against the Rams due to the absence of Alec Pierce (concussion). Though the second-year wideout logged three catches (on four targets) for 96 yards, he had a 76-yard receiving touchdown wiped out after inadvertently dropping the football right before reaching the end zone. He then had a costly holding penalty in the fourth quarter that negated a Jonathan Taylor 53-yard rushing touchdown. Pierce will end up missing a second straight game Sunday against Las Vegas, but Fowler relays that veteran Ashton Dulin -- not Mitchell -- will likely see more snaps as the Colts' third receiver alongside Michael Pittman and Josh Downs.

Colts' Adonai Mitchell: Key mistakes in loss to Rams
Mitchell recorded three receptions on four targets for 96 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Rams.
Mitchell saw an increased role with Alec Pierce (concussion) sidelined, but the second-year wideout's positive moments were overshadowed by two huge gaffes. Mitchell should have had a momentum-changing 76-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter, but he held the ball out before crossing the goal line and fumbled through the back of the end zone for a touchback. He was later called for a holding penalty that nullified a 53-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Taylor. Mitchell has second-round pedigree and the athleticism to make splash plays, but Sunday's performance was a missed opportunity to establish himself as a reliable option for Daniel Jones.

Colts' Adonai Mitchell: In line for increased snaps
With Alec Pierce (concussion) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams, Mitchell is expected to see increased playing time on offense.
Mitchell has played just 23 percent of the offensive snaps through three games as the Colts' fourth WR, but with Pierce sidelined, Mitchell figures to play a prominent role in two- and three-wide sets on the outside opposite Michael Pittman with Josh Downs manning the slot. Mitchell has been targeted eight times on his limited playing time this season, catching four passes for 41 scoreless yards. Mitchell has all the physical traits to be a difference-making wideout, and he'll get a chance to show it in a possible shootout against Los Angeles.

Colts' Adonai Mitchell: No receptions in win
Mitchell did not have a reception on two targets in Sunday's win at Tennessee.
Michell played on 24 of the offense's 57 snaps as he saw an increase in playing time, but that didn't translate into more opportunities. He drew raves in training camp, so he could still shine if an injury in the receiving corps gives him more opportunity.

Colts' Adonai Mitchell: Two receptions in win
Mitchell had two receptions for 20 yards on four targets in Sunday's win over the Broncos.
Mitchell played on just seven of the offense's 71 snaps as he has a limited role as the No. 4 receiver. He drew raves in training camp, so he could still shine if an injury in the receiving corps gives him more opportunity.

Colts' Adonai Mitchell: Plays just 15 snaps in opener
Mitchell had two receptions for 21 yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Miami.
Mitchell played on just 15 of the offense's 73 snaps as he was the clear No. 4 receiver. He was the star of training camp by dominating opposing corners in scrimmages, but that may not translate into significant playing time unless there are injuries elsewhere in the receiving corps.
