David Long: Reaches injury settlement
Long (groin) was released from injured reserve after reaching an injury settlement with the Colts on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Long was placed on IR by the Colts on Thursday after suffering a groin injury at practice. The cornerback will now be eligible to sign with a new team and play if he's able to pass a physical down the road.

Colts' David Long: Placed on injured reserve
The Colts placed Long (groin) on injured reserve Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
With his placement on injured reserve ahead of Week 1, Long will be required to miss the entirety of the 2025 season unless the Colts later cut him with an injury settlement once he's healthy. Long appeared in 13 regular-season games for Indy last season but didn't register a single tackle on 106 special-teams snaps.

Colts' David Long: Re-signs with Indianapolis
The Colts re-signed Long on Monday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Long will remain in Indianapolis after splitting time between the team's practice squad and active roster in 2024. He appeared in 13 games but recorded no stats, playing almost exclusively on special teams (106 of 113 total snaps on special teams). The 27-year-old from Michigan is expected to compete for a depth spot in the Colts secondary while also contributing on special teams throughout the offseason program.

Colts' David Long: Getting promotion to active roster
Indianapolis signed Long from its practice squad to its active roster Tuesday.
Long has already suited up for both of the Colts' last two games and contributed on special teams, but now he'll have a regular spot on the 53-man depth chart. He's still waiting for his first defensive snap of the season.
