  • Falcons' Tyrone Wheatley: Bound for IR

Wheatley (undisclosed) reverted to Atlanta's injured reserve list Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Wheatley was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Thursday, and because he wasn't subsequently claimed by another team, he'll now go to their injured reserve list. He'll be required to stay there for the entire 2025 campaign unless he can negotiate an injury settlement with Atlanta.

  • Tyrone Wheatley: Waived by Atlanta

Wheatley (undisclosed) was waived by Atlanta on Thursday with an injury designation, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.

Wheatley signed with Atlanta in January to add depth at the tackle position. However, he unexpectedly missed practice Wednesday, according to Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site. The 28-year-old has played in just two NFL regular-season games and was waived off injured reserve by New England last September. It's unclear whether his current injury is related to his past history. Should the third-year pro clear waivers, he will revert to the team's injured reserve.

The Colts hosted Wheatley for a workout Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The Patriots cut Wheatley from injured reserve with an injury settlement last month, but he's evidently now healthy. Wheatley appeared in two games for New England last season, seeing five snaps on special teams.

  • Tyrone Wheatley: Dropped by New England

The Patriots waived Wheatley (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Wheatley reverted to New England's IR after going unclaimed on waivers in early August, but the team has now decided to move on from the 27-year-old. Wheatley has appeared in just two regular-season contests in his NFL career, both of which were with the Patriots last season. He's now free to sign elsewhere once he has recovered from his undisclosed injury.

Wheatley (undisclosed) reverted to the Patriots' injured reserve list Saturday after clearing waivers, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Wheatley was waived by the Patriots on Friday with an unspecified injury. He will now be forced to miss the entire 2024 season unless an injury settlement is reached between the offensive lineman and New England. Wheatley appeared in two regular-season games with the Patriots in 2023, but he ended the year on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

Wheatley came to the Patriots in a trade with Cleveland last August. He got into two games with New England last season but played exclusively on special teams. Wheatley (knee) is participating in the Patriots' organized team activities, Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal reports.

Wheatley went on New England's injured reserve in October of last season due to a knee injury. His participation at OTAs indicates his health is back up to par at this point. Barring any setbacks, he will continue competing for a depth offensive line role heading into the season.

Wheatley (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest against Las Vegas.

Wheatley popped up on New England's injury report with a knee issue Friday and was held to limited participation in practice, making it no surprise that he's since been ruled out of Sunday's contest. • Patriots' Tyrone Wheatley: Headed to New England

The Browns traded Wheatley to the Patriots in exchange for Pierre Strong on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Browns have a surplus of tackles but not much depth behind Nick Chubb. On the other side, the addition of Ezekiel Elliott clogged the Patriots' running back room, but New England's offensive line has been suspect throughout the preseason. The deal makes sense for both sides, but neither player is expected to step into a starting role with their new squads immediately.

Wheatley was held out of the Hall of Fame Game due to an undisclosed injury. His participation in the Browns' most recent preseason game indicates he has put that issue behind him. He drew one penalty in the contest for being an ineligible man downfield. The 26-year-old is attempting to earn a role providing depth at tackle on Cleveland's final 53-man roster.
