Falcons' Tyrone Wheatley: Bound for IR
Wheatley (undisclosed) reverted to Atlanta's injured reserve list Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Wheatley was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Thursday, and because he wasn't subsequently claimed by another team, he'll now go to their injured reserve list. He'll be required to stay there for the entire 2025 campaign unless he can negotiate an injury settlement with Atlanta.

Tyrone Wheatley: Waived by Atlanta
Wheatley (undisclosed) was waived by Atlanta on Thursday with an injury designation, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.
Wheatley signed with Atlanta in January to add depth at the tackle position. However, he unexpectedly missed practice Wednesday, according to Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site. The 28-year-old has played in just two NFL regular-season games and was waived off injured reserve by New England last September. It's unclear whether his current injury is related to his past history. Should the third-year pro clear waivers, he will revert to the team's injured reserve.

The Patriots waived Wheatley (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Wheatley reverted to New England's IR after going unclaimed on waivers in early August, but the team has now decided to move on from the 27-year-old. Wheatley has appeared in just two regular-season contests in his NFL career, both of which were with the Patriots last season. He's now free to sign elsewhere once he has recovered from his undisclosed injury.

Wheatley had his 21-day practice window expire Wednesday after being designated to return from IR on Dec. 13, leaving him sidelined for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Jets. Wheatley was placed on the Patriots' IR on Oct. 14 after he sustained a knee injury against the Raiders in Week 6. He'll now have a 21-day window to be activated off injured reserve and make his return to the field.

The Browns traded Wheatley to the Patriots in exchange for Pierre Strong on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Browns have a surplus of tackles but not much depth behind Nick Chubb. On the other side, the addition of Ezekiel Elliott clogged the Patriots' running back room, but New England's offensive line has been suspect throughout the preseason. The deal makes sense for both sides, but neither player is expected to step into a starting role with their new squads immediately.

Wheatley (undisclosed) was on the field for 41 offensive plays (53 percent) in the Browns' 17-15 exhibition loss to the Commanders on Friday.
Wheatley was held out of the Hall of Fame Game due to an undisclosed injury. His participation in the Browns' most recent preseason game indicates he has put that issue behind him. Wheatley (undisclosed) suffered an injury in practice Sunday and missed Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Wheatley was injured in a "skirmish," according to coach Kevin Stefanski, and returned to a limited practice Tuesday. It doesn't sound like a long-term issue. The Browns are Wheatley's third NFL team after going undrafted out of Stony Brook in 2022. He's yet to appear in a regular-season game.
