Chargers' Nyheim Hines: Elevated by Bolts for Week 6
The Chargers elevated Hines from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
Hines joined the Chargers' practice squad Tuesday, and his addition gives the team much-needed depth at running back after Omarion Hampton (ankle) was placed on injured reserve. Hines will likely be active against the Dolphins on Sunday, and if he plays, it will mark his first action since the 2022 season, when he appeared in 16 regular-season games between the Bills (nine) and the Colts (seven). Hines could serve in a return role on kickoffs and punts but might also see work out of the backfield behind Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal.

Nyheim Hines: Back with Los Angeles
The Chargers signed Hines to the practice squad Tuesday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
Hines spent training camp and the preseason with the Chargers, so he's a familiar face to help Los Angeles navigate the next month-plus without Omarion Hampton (ankle) out of the backfield. Hines will be a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad ahead of Week 6 against the Dolphins.

Nyheim Hines: Gets cut from practice squad
The Chargers cut Hines from their practice squad Tuesday.
In a corresponding transaction, the Chargers signed linebacker Kana'i Mauga to their practice squad. Hines' last regular-season action came in 2022, when he turned 54 touches into 274 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns over 16 games with the Bills and the Colts.

Nyheim Hines: Goes to Bolts' practice squad
The Chargers signed Hines to their practice squad Wednesday.
Just a day after being waived by the Chargers, Hines is already back with the club on their practice squad. His last regular-season action came back in 2022, when he turned 54 touches into 274 scrimmage yards over 16 games with the Bills and the Colts.

Nyheim Hines: Let go by Los Angeles
Hines was released by the Chargers on Tuesday.
Hines joined the Chargers in July after missing two seasons while recovering from a torn ACL. The running back played in all four of the team's preseason contests, turning 21 carries into 65 rushing yards, while also adding three catches for 13 yards. Additionally, Hines returned seven punts for 33 yards and nine kickoffs for 231 yards during the preseason. Considering his dynamic skill set, the running back will likely find another suitor ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Chargers' Nyheim Hines: Joins Bolts
Hines signed with the Chargers on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The running back was looking for an opportunity after missing the last two seasons with a torn ACL suffered in a jet-ski accident, and now he'll get one in an LA backfield led by Najee Harris (eye) and Omarion Hampton. The depth chart is pretty open behind those two, and Hines has the added benefit of offering potential as a kick returner, seeing as he recorded 554 kickoff-return yards and two touchdowns during the 2022 regular season. Hines has also caught at least 30 passes in all five of his pro campaigns.

Nyheim Hines: Looking for a shot in 2025
Hines (knee) believes his knee is finally ready for a return to NFL action, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hines suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in a jet-ski accident following the 2022 campaign, which has forced him to miss each of the last two seasons. The running back played in 16 regular-season games between the Colts and Bills in 2022, turning 24 carries into 33 yards while catching 30 of 37 targets for 241 yards and a score. Most notably, he compiled 554 yards and two touchdowns as a punt returner. The 28-year-old will likely get a shot to join a team's special-teams unit again in 2025.

Nyheim Miller-Hines: Time in Cleveland ends
Miller-Hines (knee) was released by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston Reports.
Miller-Hines was expected to return from an ACL tear at some point during the 2024 campaign, but that never came to fruition. The former Colt and Bill hasn't seen action in an NFL game since 2022, and he'll need to prove he's healthy to get a look from another team.
