Easton Stick: Practice squad QB for Atlanta
The Falcons signed Stick to the practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
The Falcons opted to go with two quarterbacks on the main roster with Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins, so Stick will start the season on the team's practice squad. Stick finished the preseason completing 69.2 percent of his passes for 520 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while adding five carries for 32 yards across three games.

Easton Stick: Let go by Atlanta
The Falcons released Stick on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Stick was unable to force the Falcons to keep a third quarterback behind Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins after completing 54 of 78 pass attempts for 520 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions this preseason. The 29-year-old could be a candidate to rejoin the team via the practice squad.

Falcons' Easton Stick: Uneven effort in preseason finale
Stick completed 20 of 28 passes for 198 yards and a touchdown with an interception in Friday's 31-13 preseason loss to the Cowboys. He added 18 rushing yards on three carries.
The veteran backup QB played into the fourth quarter in Atlanta's final exhibition contest, as both Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins were held out. Stick did lead the offense into scoring position on three of five first-half drives, but a missed field goal cost the Falcons some points, and his final pass of the night got picked off. Barring a sudden end to the Cousins saga via trade or an injury, Stick will head into the regular season third on the depth chart and unlikely to see snaps.

Falcons' Easton Stick: Primed for final preseason start
Stick is positioned to start Atlanta's preseason finale against the Cowboys on Friday with Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins both in line to sit out, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Stick has been serviceable across two preseason starts so far, completing a combined 34 of 50 attempts for 322 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He's also rushed twice for 14 yards. The 29-year-old is expected to enter the regular season as the Falcons' third quarterback behind Penix and Cousins, and with Atlanta having waived/injured Emory Jones (concussion) on Monday, it will be new signee Ben DiNucci who enters Friday's preseason finale in relief of Stick.

Falcons' Easton Stick: Gets extended run Friday
Stick completed 19 of 32 pass attempts for 173 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing twice for 14 yards in Friday's preseason loss to the Titans.
Stick got off to a rough start when he threw a pick-six in the first quarter before settling down with a pair of touchdown drives in the second half. The 29-year-old got extra playing time after fellow backup Emory Jones exited following a big hit late in the contest. Jones' health will now be a factor in the competition for Atlanta's third quarterback gig, with Stick taking the early lead based on production. Expect Stick to get more run in the Falcons' preseason finale against the Cowboys next Friday.

Falcons' Easton Stick: In line for exhibition start
Stick is slated to start Friday's preseason game versus the Titans, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The Falcons are keeping QBs Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins on the sideline for a second straight exhibition, allowing Stick another chance to lead the offense. Last Friday against the Lions, Stick completed 15 of 18 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown in one half of work. A similar workload likely is in the offing for Stick before he hands things off to Emory Jones for the rest of the contest.

Falcons' Easton Stick: Sharp in preseason start
Stick completed 15 of 18 pass attempts for 149 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason tilt against the Lions.
Stick got the start for Atlanta with both Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins sitting out the exhibition. The 29-year-old Stick was nearly perfect from the pocket in the first half before giving way to Emory Jones after halftime. The pair of backups will continue battling for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart this preseason when the Falcons take on the Titans next Friday.

Falcons' Easton Stick: Set for significant action Friday
Stick and Emory Jones will split quarterback duties in Friday's preseason opener against the Lions while Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins will be rested, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.
Stick will presumably get the starting nod, as the former Chargers quarterback has four regular-season NFL starts under his belt, while Jones hasn't appeared in a regular-season NFL game. Unless one of Atlanta's top two quarterbacks gets injured or Cousins is moved off the roster, Stick and Jones will be competing for the third spot on the team's quarterback depth chart.

Falcons' Easton Stick: Inked by Atlanta
The Falcons signed Stick on Monday.
Stick is a 2019 fifth-round pick who spent the entirety of his NFL career before now with the Chargers. He suited up for five games (four starts) in 2023, completing 63.8 percent of his passes for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, but he didn't log any regular-season action in 2024. Kirk Cousins currently remains on Atlanta's roster as the backup to Michael Penix, but if the veteran quarterback ultimately does waive his no-trade clause for a chance to compete elsewhere, Stick could get an opportunity to step into the No. 2 role.

Chargers' Easton Stick: Will be emergency QB on Saturday
Stick (coach's decision) is inactive and serving as the Chargers' emergency third quarterback for Saturday's wild-card matchup against Houston.
Stick was frequently Los Angeles' emergency third QB on gamedays during the regular season, and he'll serve in that role in the opening contest of the playoffs Saturday. The veteran signal-caller can only enter against the Texans if both Justin Herbert and Taylor Heinicke are unable to play due to injury, illness or ejection.

Chargers' Easton Stick: Playing emergency role Sunday
Stick (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
The quarterback will resume his familiar role behind starter Justin Herbert and backup Taylor Heinicke as the Chargers push for the No. 5 seed in the AFC, and he would need them both to get hurt, sick or ejected to enter the contest. Stick has yet to enter a game this season.

Chargers' Easton Stick: Emergency QB again
Stick (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Broncos.
The quarterback can only enter the contest if starter Justin Herbert and backup Taylor Heinicke get injured, sick or ejected. Herbert played through ankle and thigh issues in last week's 40-17 loss to the Buccaneers, but he did not enter Thursday night with an injury designation. Stick has yet to appear in a game this season.
