Michael Mauti: Let go by New Orleans
Mauti was released by the Saints on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Mauti has spent the last three seasons on the bayou after beginning his career in Minnesota. Although he was largely used as a special teams player in 2017, the Penn State product did start two games at linebacker. Given Mauti's relative youth and sizable experience, look for him to latch on elsewhere before training camps open.

Saints' Michael Mauti: Re-signs with Saints
Mauti signed a one-year contract with the Saints on Thursday, Joel A. Erickson of The New Orleans Advocate reports.
Mauti has been with the Saints the past three years as a backup linebacker, drawing four starts and playing in 35 games over that span. He recorded 11 tackles and one forced fumble last year as a depth defender and special teams player. He'll likely see a similar role in 2018.

Saints' Michael Mauti: Questionable with illness
Mauti (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC divisional-round game against the Vikings.
Mauti was out sick Friday but seems likely to be cleared to play in time for Sunday's all-important playoff tilt. If not, Jonathan Freeny could be forced into an expanded role.

Saints' Michael Mauti: Re-signs with Saints
Mauti agreed to re-sign with the Saints on Tuesday, Mike Triplett of ESPN reports.
Mauti, a former Saints' special teams captain, took a break from the field last season to deal with a longtime battle with ulcerative colitis. He returned to training camp this year, but failed to make the final roster. An injury to the team's current special teams captain, Nathan Stupar, presumably opened the door for Mauti's return.

Saints' Michael Mauti: Re-signs with New Orleans
Mauti signed a one-year contract with the Saints on Monday, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Mauti, who has accrued 46 tackles in 24 games for the Saints the last two seasons, missed the final eight contests of the 2016 campaign due to ulcerative colitis, an illness he's dealt with since his days at Penn State. With that issue in the rearview for now, Mauti will look to reclaim his role as a special teams captain in advance of Week 1.
