WATCH: Aaron Rodgers throws first touchdown pass with Steelers in season opener vs. Jets
Rodgers was in vintage form on Pittsburgh's opening drive

It didn't take long for Aaron Rodgers to throw his first touchdown pass as a member of the Steelers. Rodgers capped off Pittsburgh's first offensive drive of the 2025 season with a 22-yard touchdown pass to wideout Ben Skowronek. The score gave the Steelers an early 7-3 lead over the Jets.
Rodgers went 4 of 5 for 62 yards on Pittsburgh's 10-play, 71-yard drive. He converted on both of his third-and-10 situations that included a 23-yard completion to DK Metcalf, who dropped a pass just moments earlier.

Rodgers was sacked by former Jets teammate Quinnen Williams on Pittsburgh's first play. Rodgers responded with an 11-yard completion two plays later to tight end Pat Freiermuth that moved the chains. Rodgers' first drive also included a six-yard completion to new Steelers tight end Jonnu Smith.

In addition to this being his first game as a Steeler, this is also Rodgers' first game against the Jets, who elected not to re-sign him this offseason. The Jets instead went out and signed Justin Fields, who went 4-2 as Pittsburgh's starter last season.
