Colts running back Trent Richardson has been one of the biggest Fantasy busts of the season, but as many Fantasy owners prepare for championship games this weekend, the second-year back is in play again as a potential starting option.
It largely has to due with Indianapolis running back Donald Brown being iffy to play because of a stinger suffered last week. Richardson played well in Brown's absence Week 15, finishing with 15 Fantasy points. Though, Richardson averaged just 3.4 yards per carry last week and his poor track record still might prevent Fantasy owners from putting him in active lineups Week 16.
The Colts travel to Kansas City Sunday. Despite the Chiefs being one of the better teams in the NFL this season, they have had their issues against the run, particularly as of late. In the last six games, running backs are averaging 117.2 rushing yards and 24 Fantasy points per week against Kansas City. Running backs have totaled eight touchdowns (six rushing) in that span.
If Brown sits out Sunday, Fantasy owners might have to give strong consideration to starting Richardson given the favorable matchup. It's probably safer to view him as a No. 3 Fantasy running back, but Richardson could certainly be a sleeper option Week 16, especially as a flex start.
