Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said from the NFL Owners Meeting that if Daniel Thomas wants to be a bigger factor on offense, he needs to stay healthy and play well consistently. "Its hard for players to really make the type of development youd like them to make if they are not able to stay healthy," Philbin said. "[C]oaches value practice time, so if youre not making progress and youre injured, then youre kind of slipping back. ... [I]f you look at him, we've got to eliminate the fumbling, he had one or two mental errors at critical times and Im not saying hes the only player that had a mental error, but he just needs to do some things; display that consistency, stay healthy and kind of keep that gradual climb upward."
