Chargers running back Ryan Mathews carried the ball 16 times for 73 yards in Sunday's 33-30 victory over the Eagles. Mathews caught one pass for three yards, but also fumbled toward the end of the second quarter as the Chargers were threatening to score (the fumble came on a short run from the Eagles' nine yard line). It was Mathews' eighth lost fumble in a four-year career.
Mathews didn't seem to be punished for the miscue -- he carried the ball five more times in the second half -- but Danny Woodhead had more playing time, getting 11 touches (seven carries, four receptions) to Mathews' five.
The Chargers travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans in Week 3. Mathews has 131 total yards and a touchdown on the season.
