RB Curtis Brinkley appears to have the inside track at replacing Mike Tolbert (Panthers) for the job of backing up Ryan Mathews. Brinkley practiced with the second team during the Chargers first OTA on Tuesday and he played well in limited opportunities last season.
“If you go in and play and have success, that is how you earn more opportunities,” coach Norv Turner said. “I think Brinkley (has) earned those (opportunities).”
