Though Zac Stacy was active after missing some practice time earlier in the week with an ankle injury, the Rams didn't seem terribly interested in using him in Week 7. And they didn't lean all that much on Benny Cunningham either, at least not as far as the running game was concerned. No, their primary ball carrier against division rival Seattle was Tre Mason, who didn't even debut with the team until Week 6. And he was a revelation in the role, picking up 85 yards on 18 carries, including a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Cunningham was still involved in the passing game. In fact, he was the Rams' leading receiver with 46 yards on five catches, scoring a touchdown on one of them. But he carried the ball only two times for 3 yards.
Stacy, meanwhile, played only one snap and didn't get a single touch. It's possible the Rams were saving him with his ankle at less than 100 percent, but considering he practiced in full Friday, I doubt it. As the team's intended starter at running back, he never ran for more than 71 yards in any of his first five games, so Mason already has him beat.
Maybe you hold on to Stacy if you're the extra cautious type, but Mason looks like the Rams running back to own right now, with Cunningham also having some low-end appeal in points-per-reception leagues.
