Grizzlies' Zach Edey: Cleared for basketball activities
Edey has been cleared to begin ramping up basketball activities and is expected to return to play in six to nine weeks.
Edey underwent surgery to address laxity in his left ankle on June 7. He'll likely get back on the floor at some point in November if all goes well, which is good news for Memphis, who also have Brandon Clarke (knee), Cedric Coward (shoulder) and Jaren Jackson (foot) on the mend.

Grizzlies' Zach Edey: To be re-evaluated in four months
Edey underwent successful surgery Tuesday to re-stabilize his sprained left ankle and will be re-evaluated in four months, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
Edey is expected to make a full recovery after re-spraining his ankle during an offseason workout. The big man is set to be re-evaluated before the start of the 2025-26 regular season, though it wouldn't be surprising if he missed additional time while recovering from the injury. The 23-year-old appeared in 66 regular-season outings (55 starts) during his rookie season, finishing with averages of 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 assists while shooting 58.0 percent from the field across 21.5 minutes per game.

Grizzlies' Zach Edey: Will undergo ankle surgery
Edey re-sprained his left ankle in an offseason workout and will undergo surgery to re-stabilize the ankle, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Edey is expected to miss the start of the 2025-26 NBA season due to the recovery from surgery on his ankle. The rookie center made quite an impression in his first season with the Grizzlies, as he started 55 of the 66 games he played. The Purdue product averaged close to a double-double during the 2024-25 campaign with 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 58 percent from the field.

Grizzlies' Zach Edey: Sets franchise record at rim
Edey posted eight points (3-4 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and seven blocks over 33 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 117-115 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
It's the most blocks ever in a single playoff game by a Grizzlies rookie, and just two off the NBA rookie record set by Manute Bol in 1986. Edey had a strong finish to the regular season on the glass, averaging 10.6 points, 15.3 boards, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks over his first eight contests in April, and his defensive performance Saturday with the team's season on the line offers plenty of hope that he could take a big step forward as a sophomore in 2025-26.

Grizzlies' Zach Edey: Efficient in defeat
Edey notched nine points (3-3 FG, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and one block over 30 minutes during Thursday's 114-108 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Edey recorded single-digit points for the third consecutive game, though he was efficient during Thursday's loss. The rookie big man is averaging 5.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks while shooting 63.6 percent from the floor across 25.3 minutes per game during the first round. Edey and the Grizzlies will look to avoid elimination during Saturday's Game 4 in Memphis.
