Top Terrence Shannon Jr. News

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Scoreless in 16 minutes

Shannon provided zero points (0-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one steal in 16 minutes during Wednesday's 116-115 loss to the Lakers.

This was another tough showing for Shannon, as he's been unable to live up to the offseason hype thus far. Through five regular-season contests, he's shooting 33.3 percent from the field with averages of 4.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 three-pointers in 18.0 minutes per night. He's just a watch-list candidate for now in case he finds his rhythm while Anthony Edwards (hamstring) is out.

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Logs diverse line from bench

Shannon notched 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt), five rebounds, five assists and one steal over 25 minutes during Wednesday's 118-114 victory over the Trail Blazers.

Shannon's results weren't surprising considering his excellent returns during Summer League and his frequent usage in the preseason. While the 2024 first-round pick's numbers are encouraging, he's still one or two injuries away from making a significant fantasy impact.

Shannon (rest) has been cleared to play in Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Team option picked up

The Timberwolves picked up Shannon's (rest) 2026-27 team option Saturday.

Shannon, who sat out the team's preseason finale Friday, made quite the impression on the Timberwolves in four exhibitions. In that span, he averaged 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals on 43.8 percent shooting from the field. Shannon is expected to play an increased role on the wings in 2025-26 in the absence of Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Shannon (rest) has been ruled out for Friday's preseason game against Philadelphia.

Shannon will sit out the team's preseason finale, though his absence isn't expected to carry over into the regular-season opener against Portland on Wednesday. Jaylen Clark and Donte DiVincenzo are candidates for increased minutes with Shannon sidelined.

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Fares well against Knicks

Shannon produced 11 points (4-5 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and three turnovers in Thursday's 100-95 preseason loss to New York.

Shannon has generated some buzz throughout training camp, and coach Chris Finch has pointed to him as an option to pick up the minutes vacated by Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Through three preseason contests, Shannon holds averages of 10.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.7 three-pointers in 21.5 minutes per game.

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Productive night Tuesday

Shannon ended with nine points (3-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five assists, three steals and two rebounds in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 135-134 preseason loss to the Pacers.

Shannon was arguably the best player on the floor for the Timberwolves, continuing to make his push for more playing time. Following a subdued rookie campaign, Shannon has a chance to carve out a 20-minute per-game role for himself, sliding in for Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who is now with the Hawks. Should the Timberwolves suffer any major injuries, look for Shannon to step into an even larger role.

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Shooting woes in preseason win

Shannon supplied 11 points (2-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 21 minutes in Saturday's 126-116 preseason win over the Nuggets.

Shannon struggled with efficiency but still finished as one of five Minnesota players to score in double figures. The second-year swingman has a chance to carve out a significant role behind Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels with Nickeil Alexander-Walker now with the Hawks. Shannon appeared in 32 regular-season games (one start) last season, averaging 4.3 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 48.2 percent from the field across 10.6 minutes per game.

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Sitting out vs. Phoenix

Shannon (rest) is out for Wednesday's Summer League game against the Suns, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reports.

Wednesday is the second part of the Timberwolves' back-to-back set, so it's not shocking to see Shannon receive the day off after dropping 24 points in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 89-73 win over the Pistons. With Nickeil Alexander-Walker heading to Atlanta this offseason, Shannon is looking to handle a more stable role in Minnesota's rotation in 2025-26.

Shannon posted 24 points (6-9 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 9-9 FT), five rebounds, three assists and two steals across 28 minutes in Tuesday's 89-73 Summer League win over the Pistons.

Shannon was efficient from the field and frequently got to the charity stripe, finishing with a game-high mark in points. The Illinois product was also one of three Minnesota players to record multiple steals. Shannon continues to be one of the best scoring threats for the Timberwolves during the Summer League, as he finished with a game-high 24 points Saturday. The 24-year-old struggled with his shooting from beyond arc, but he did have a strong all-around performance and was one of three players for Minnesota to grab seven rebounds.

Shannon totaled 20 points (6-14 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine assists, six rebounds and two steals across 31 minutes in Thursday's 98-91 Summer League win over the Pelicans.

Aside from struggling from beyond the arc, Shannon was electric in leading the Timberwolves to a win Thursday. The wing impressed during his 2024-25 rookie campaign when given extended run, averaging 16.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists on 53.4 percent shooting in the five of 32 regular-season games during which he played 20 or more minutes.

  • Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Provides spark off bench

Shannon finished with 11 points (3-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and one steal in 16 minutes during Wednesday's 124-94 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.

Despite not being much of a factor in Minnesota's rotation all year, Shannon averaged 11.7 points in 12.3 minutes across the final three games of the team's series against Oklahoma City. Shannon will look to build off this success to gain a more significant role during his sophomore campaign, especially if Nickeil Alexander-Walker leaves in free agency.
