Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Will miss rest of season
Pippen will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season after undergoing a sesamoidectomy to address ongoing discomfort in his right big toe, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports Friday.
Pippen had no return timetable after his initial injury diagnosis, and the Grizzlies have no incentive to rush him back, so shutting him down isn't surprising. It's unclear what Pippen's offseason will look like, but he should be back to full strength by training camp next season. He missed the beginning of the campaign after undergoing surgery on his left big toe, so Pippen will finish his third year in Memphis with averages of 11.4 points, 4.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals across only 10 appearances (six starts). He's under contract for at least one more season before a club option in 2027-28.

Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Requires surgery on toe
The Grizzlies announced Thursday that Pippen will undergo a sesamoidectomy to address discomfort in his right big toe and is without a timeline for a return.
The guard is expected to make a full recovery from the procedure, and while a timeline for his return hasn't been established, the non-contending Grizzlies will most likely hold him out for the remainder of the season. Pippen has been limited to just 10 appearances so far in 2025-26, after his season debut was delayed while he recovered from a October surgery on the big toe on his left foot. Pippen will miss a third straight game, including his second in a row due to an injury that the Grizzlies are labeling as right great toe sesamoiditis. Before making his season debut in early February, the 25-year-old guard had previously missed time to begin the campaign while recovering from surgery on the great toe on his left foot. While the fact that Pippen's latest absence isn't being attributed to his surgically repaired toe is a welcome sign, the Grizzlies haven't indicated when he might be ready to resume playing.
