Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: Limited workload continues
Hyland closed with three points (1-3 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in 10 minutes in Saturday's 122-105 win over Charlotte.
Hyland once again finished in single digits Saturday, marking his sixth straight game without reaching double figures to open the season. The 2021 first-round pick has shown scoring flashes in past campaigns but hasn't carved out a meaningful role in Minnesota's rotation, competing for playing time at point guard behind Donte DiVincenzo and Mike Conley alongside Rob Dillingham. Through six contests, Hyland is averaging 5.2 points, 1.5 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game.

Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: Earns reserve role in opener
Hyland scored two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in eight minutes in Wednesday's win at Portland. He was used off the bench late in the game ahead of Rob Dillingham because because head coach Chris Finch said "that's someone I felt could handle (the ball) out there and could stand up to some of the (Blazers) drives," according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Hyland isn't likely to have much of a role off the bench for the T-Wolves, barring several injuries, but it's certainly notable that he got minutes ahead of 2024 eighth overall draft pick Dillingham, who was thought to have a growing role off the bench this season. Minnesota's point guard situation is a bit in flux, so there could be an opportunity for Hyland to win more minutes off the bench.

Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: Scores 10 in preseason loss
Hyland posted 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and a steal over 20 minutes of action in Friday's 126-110 preseason loss to Philadelphia.
Hyland is not expected to be a contributor in Minnesota's rotation, especially not right away, but having another double-digit scoring output is encouraging. In six preseason games, Hyland averaged 7.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.3 blocks over 16.2 minutes.

Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: Drops 18 points in preseason win
Hyland finished with 18 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 22 minutes in Saturday's 126-116 preseason win over the Nuggets.
Hyland impressed during Minnesota's preseason opener, leading all scorers in an efficient performance. The 25-year-old guard signed a partially guaranteed one-year contract with the team in mid-September and is likely to provide backcourt depth for the Timberwolves in the 2025-26 campaign. He appeared in 24 regular-season games between the Timberwolves and Clippers last season, during which he averaged 6.2 points and 1.3 assists across 10.0 minutes per contest.

Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: Set to join Timberwolves
Hyland and the Timberwolves agreed to a deal Monday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
After fizzling out with the Clippers to begin last year, Hyland has landed an opportunity to rejoin the Timberwolves for training camp in an effort to make the final roster. The 2021 first-rounder is capable of providing instant offense off the bench, as he averaged 6.2 points, 0.8 steals and 1.3 three-pointers in just 10.0 minutes per game over 24 regular-season contests in 2024-25. However, he'll likely be hard-pressed to find playing time in the Minnesota backcourt if he makes the Opening Night roster.

Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: Rare appearance in win
Hyland amassed one rebound over two minutes during Thursday's 105-90 win over the Nets.
Hyland stepped into the rotation for just the fourth time since joining the Timberwolves, a stint spanning nine games. It's been another disappointing season for Hyland, suiting up on just 24 occasions, averaging 6.2 points in 9.9 minutes.

Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: Joins parent club
The Timberwolves recalled Hyland from the G League's Iowa Wolves on Tuesday.
After signing a two-way deal with Minnesota last Thursday, Hyland reported to the G League's Iowa Wolves and turned in a pair of big performances, averaging 33.5 points, 7.0 three-pointers, 5.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in 40.8 minutes between his two appearances. He'll link up with the Timberwolves ahead of Tuesday's game against the 76ers but isn't certain to be included in the rotation.

Timberwolves' Bones Hyland: To sign with Minnesota
Hyland and the Timberwolves have agreed to a two-way contract, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
The Timberwolves promoted Jaylen Clark to a standard roster spot to clear a two-way slot for Hyland. This will be a fresh start for Hyland after the Clippers traded him away before the deadline when he was ultimately waived in Atlanta. In 20 appearances for the Clippers, Hyland averaged 7.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 11.1 minutes.

Bones Hyland: Let go by Atlanta
The Hawks are planning to waive Hyland on Friday, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports.
Atlanta acquired Hyland from the Clippers on Thursday, but he was mostly viewed as a salary filler to offset the contract of Bogdan Bogdanovic, who was moved to Los Angeles. After averaging 7.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 11.1 minutes across 20 appearances the Clippers this season, the 24-year-old guard will become a free agent once he clears waivers.

Hawks' Bones Hyland: Won't be available Friday
Hyland (trade pending) is listed as out for Friday's game against the Bucks, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
While fellow trade-deadline acquisitions Caris LeVert (trade pending), Terance Mann (trade pending) and Georges Niang (trade pending) are all listed as questionable, Hyland has already been ruled out. Even when available, Hyland will likely compete for limited minutes in Atlanta's backcourt.

Hawks' Bones Hyland: Traded to Atlanta
The Clippers traded Hyland and Terance Mann to the Hawks on Thursday in exchange for Bogdan Bogdanovic, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
A fresh start could be just what Hyland needs, as he was used sparingly by the Clippers. He made just 20 regular-season appearances with the Clippers, averaging 7.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. In Atlanta, Hyland will compete for backcourt minutes off the bench with guys like Terance Mann and Vit Krejci.

Clippers' Bones Hyland: Rough outing in loss
Hyland ended Tuesday's 122-86 loss to the Spurs with seven points (2-10 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and two assists across 17 minutes.
After not being part of the rotation for five games, Hyland had a forgettable performance in his return to the floor for the Clippers. It's been a rough season for the 24-year-old, as struggled to stay healthy and productive when able to get on the floor for Los Angeles.

Clippers' Bones Hyland: Nabs three steals in win Monday
Hyland registered eight points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three assists and three steals over 12 minutes during Monday's 144-107 victory over Utah.
The 24-year-old guard was efficient during his limited run in the blowout win, tying Kevin Porter for the team-high mark in steals. Hyland has appeared in five consecutive outings with Terance Mann (finger) sidelined, during which he has averaged 12.8 points, 2.4 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals across 18.2 minutes per contest.
