Pickett saw some extra minutes in garbage time with the Nuggets running away with this game early on. Pickett has been on the outside looking in as far as the rotation goes, but credit to him for stepping up when his name was called Wednesday.

Pickett finished Friday's 94-91 preseason loss to the Thunder with 12 points (5-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt), four assists, one rebound, one steal and one block over 25 minutes.
Pickett was one of four Nuggets players to play 25 minutes during Friday's preseason finale, and the 2023 second-rounder finished as the team's fourth-leading scorer behind Peyton Watson (15), Julian Strawther (14) and Tim Hardaway (13). Pickett's playing time figures to be sparse for the start of the 2025-26 regular season as his main competition for minutes will come from the likes of Strawther, Hardaway and Bruce Brown.

Pickett tallied 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt), four assists and three rebounds over 14 minutes during Saturday's 126-116 preseason loss to the Timberwolves.
Pickett connected on a team-high three three-pointers Saturday, leading the bench in scoring while finishing second on the Nuggets in that category behind Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon (14 points each). Pickett saw his bench role steadily grow over the course of the 2024-25 regular season, though his playing time was cut down significantly during the postseason, especially during the second round of the Western Conference playoffs against the Thunder. The 2023 second-rounder is facing stiff competition for minutes from Bruce Brown, Julian Strawther and Tim Hardaway.

Pickett closed Sunday's 125-93 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals with six points (2-5 FG, 2-5 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists across 10 minutes.
Pickett was used pretty sparingly in his second NBA season, averaging 4.1 points, 2.2 assists and 1.4 rebounds while shooting 39.6 percent from beyond the arc in 13.6 minutes across 49 regular-season appearances. Russell Westbrook holds a player option for 2025-26 and struggled to close out the playoffs, so there's a scenario in which Pickett opens next season as the primary backup behind Jamal Murray.

It was a standout showing by Pickett, who turned in his first career triple-double while also setting new career highs in points, boards and dimes. Although the Nuggets held their entire starting lineup out of action Wednesday, Pickett showed what he's capable of when given the opportunity for an expanded role. The 2023 second-rounder hasn't been a routine member of the rotation when Denver is at full strength, therefore Pickett could be hard-pressed to find this level of usage on a consistent basis.

Jamal Murray was ejected from this game after 29 minutes, but it was a blowout anyway. Pickett ended up posting career-high marks in points (14) and assists (9), but he still has a lot to prove before he can be viewed as a viable fantasy option in most leagues. Over his last six games, he averaged 5.3 points, 3.2 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals on 39.4 percent shooting from the field.

Pickett played at least 15 minutes for just the fifth time this season, sliding up in the rotation following a hamstring injury to Russell Westbrook. Although Pickett could feature on a nightly basis should Westbrook miss additional time, there is no reason to think he will play more than 15 minutes, limiting his overall upside.
