Simons chipped in 19 points (7-21 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block across 29 minutes during Friday's 109-108 win over Philadelphia.
While Simons didn't deliver his most efficient performance, he led the second unit in points and finished as Boston's second-leading scorer. The 26-year-old guard continues to see significant minutes as the team's sixth man, and he's been productive from beyond the arc, shooting 40.0 percent from three-point range through six regular-season games. He's averaged 15.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 28.2 minutes per contest this season.

Celtics' Anfernee Simons: Nets 25 points off 17 shots in win
Simons totaled 25 points (9-17 FG, 6-13 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one steal across 32 minutes during Monday's 122-90 win over the Pelicans.
Simons had been quiet through his first three games of the season, but he finally found his footing Monday evening with a favorable matchup against the Pelicans. However, it's worth noting that 11 of his 25 points came in the fourth quarter during garbage time, so he's not totally out of the woods yet. It'll be interesting to see what his minutes and usage look like Wednesday against the Cavs.

The Celtics opted to start Payton Pritchard on Wednesday, but Simons was still able to provide a spark off the bench in his Celtics debut. The two guards will likely be battling for Boston's top spot at point guard throughout the year, and Simons showed in the season opener that he is capable of being productive from the second unit.

Simons started only one preseason game, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. The Celtics will have many different starting lineups throughout the campaign, but their Opening Night first five will be Payton Pritchard, Derrick White, Sam Hauser, Jaylen Brown and Neemias Queta. Simons is still expected to have a large role off the bench.

Simons started this game alongside Payton Pritchard with the Celtics resting all three of Derrick White, Jaylen Brown and Sam Hauser. Simons finished second on the team in shot attempts and saw plenty of usage. He projects to be the sixth man for Boston this season, and it will be interesting to see how he embraces the role -- coach Joe Mazulla is going to challenge him to become more engaged on the defensive end.

Simons' absence from the first unit comes as a bit of a surprise, as the Celtics' major offseason acquisition was a shoo-in to start at the shooting guard spot to start the campaign. Still, it's the preseason, so Wednesday's lineup is far from a guarantee to be replicated on opening night. Celtics' Anfernee Simons: Healthy for start of training camp
Simons (forearm) appears to have no limitations at training camp, Souichi Terada of The Springfield Republican reports.
Simons missed the tail end of the 2024-25 regular season with Portland due to a forearm injury, but he looks ready to open Celtics camp with a clean bill of health. The 26-year-old sharpshooter is expected to begin the new year in a key role in Boston's backcourt, although his expiring contract will likely keep his name swirling around the rumor mill for a potential trade throughout the campaign. Following last season's All-Star break, Simons averaged 21.0 points, 4.4 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 3.2 three-pointers in 33.6 minutes per game across 19 outings.
