  • Hawks' Trae Young: Re-evaluated in four weeks

Young (knee) will be re-evaluated in four weeks, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. An MRI taken on Young's right knee revealed a sprained MCL. Charania notes that Young "dodged major structural damage," but the Hawks will have to play without their franchise point guard for at least four weeks. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Dyson Daniels could soak up more usage in the meantime, while Luke Kennard and Keaton Wallace could step into larger roles.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Ruled out for Sunday

Young (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cavaliers, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Young is dealing with a sprained right knee and will miss his second consecutive game. NBA reporter Chris Haynes reported Wednesday that Young would undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of his injury, though the Hawks have yet to provide an update on the star point guard's return timetable. Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Luke Kennard and Keaton Wallace are candidates for increased minutes with Young sidelined.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Won't play vs. Indiana

Young (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Pacers. Young suffered a right knee sprain in Thursday's game against the Nets. It is uncertain how much time he may miss as a result of the injury, with the team waiting for the results of an MRI. It'd be safe to assume Nickeil Alexander-Walker will be in the starting lineup, with Luke Kennard getting more time off the bench.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Undergoing MRI Thursday

Young (knee) will undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of his injury, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports. Mouhamed Gueye fell into the side of Young's right leg during Wednesday's game against Brooklyn, and the star guard was quickly ruled out for the rest of the way. The injury was deemed a right knee sprain, but the Hawks will have Young undergo further testing to determine its severity. Head coach Quin Snyder said postgame that Young's injury isn't an ACL issue, but more clarity should be provided following the MRI. Atlanta's next game is Friday against Indiana.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Won't return Wednesday

Young will not return to Wednesday's game against the Nets due to a right knee sprain. Mouhamed Gueye fell hard into the side of Young's leg, making his right knee bend awkwardly, and Young was in some clear discomfort after the injury. The good news is that he was able to get off the court under his own power, and the team is currently calling it a "sprain," so it appears he has avoided something more serious. Still, this could be something that causes him to miss multiple games, and he'd leave a massive void to fill on offense. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard would likely split most of his minutes, while the playmaking and shots will be divvied up amongst Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels and Kristaps Porzingis.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Heads to locker room

Young went back to the locker room during Wednesday's game against Brooklyn with an apparent leg injury, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Mouhamed Gueye fell into the back of Young's leg, and after briefly trying to play through the injury, Young left the game and went into the locker room. While he's out, Luke Kennard, Keaton Wallace and Nickeil Alexander-Walker could see more action.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Hands out season-high 17 dimes

Young contributed 21 points (7-22 FG, 1-10 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds and 17 assists across 34 minutes during Monday's 128-123 loss to Chicago. Young's 17 assists Monday night accounted for the most anyone has handed out so far this season, and despite only distributing nine total dimes through the first two games of the year, Young has now surpassed Nikola Jokic for the assist crown with 38 on the season. Sure, he's still struggling from distance, converting just 19.2 percent of his three-point attempts, but there's no way that will hold for the career, 35.2 percent three-point shooter. It's been a slow start, but he's showing signs of life.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: First double-double of season

Young registered 15 points (5-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 assists and four rebounds over 30 minutes during the Hawks' 117-100 loss to the Thunder on Saturday. Young's 15 points were a season low, but he still finished as the Hawks' second-leading scorer behind Nickeil Alexander-Walker (17), and the former led both teams with 10 dimes en route to his first double-double of the year. Young has opened the 2025-26 regular season connecting on just 38.6 percent of his field-goal attempts while averaging 20.7 points, 7.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers over 32.7 minutes per game.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Scores 25 points with six assists

Young recorded 25 points (7-18 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 10-12 FT), six assists, one rebound, two steals, one block and one turnover in 34 minutes during Friday's 111-107 win over the Magic. Young has gotten off to a slow start this season with back-to-back, single-digit assist outings, and he's also been struggling from beyond the arc. Through the first two games, he's converted just two of his 13 three-point attempts, and he's simply looked out of sync with his teammates. He should figure it out soon enough, but with another tough matchup against the Thunder on Saturday, it won't be easy for him to snap out of the funk.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Hits for 22 in Wednesday's loss

Young racked up 22 points (5-14 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 11-13 FT), one rebound, five assists and one steal over 34 minutes during Wednesday's 138-118 loss to the Raptors. The All-Star guard struggled to find his shot from long range, but Young still saw enough usage to top 20 points in the Hawks' season opener. While the supporting cast around him has been revamped, primarily by having Kristaps Porzingis replace Clint Capela at center, Young will still be the focal point of the offense.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Set to play in preseason finale

Young (rest) is set to play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Rockets, Caleb Johnson of 92.9 The Game reports. After getting the night off in Monday's preseason game against the Heat, Young is ready to take his final reps of the preseason Thursday. The superstar guard could work into the second half to maintain his conditioning ahead of the Oct. 22 season opener against the Raptors.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Won't suit up Monday

Young (rest) won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Heat, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports. Along with the rest of Atlanta's usual starting lineup, Young will sit out Monday's contest. The star point guard's next opportunity to play will come in Thursday's preseason finale against the Rockets.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Looks good despite loss

Young recorded nine points (3-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight assists, two rebounds and three turnovers in 18 minutes of Monday's 122-113 preseason loss to the Rockets. Young has reportedly been disappointed in not signing an extension with the Hawks over the offseason, but he was all business Monday. He's under contract for one more season, but he has a player option worth $48.9 million for the 2026-27 campaign. After that, Young could potentially hit the open market in 2027. With that in mind, this is setting up to be a pivotal season for both Young and Atlanta.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Double-double in Play-In Game loss

Young provided 29 points (9-22 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five rebounds, 11 assists, one block and one steal across 44 minutes during Friday's 123-114 overtime Play-In Game loss to the Heat. Young had another strong Play-In Tournament performance Friday, leading both teams in assists and finishing second in points behind Tyler Herro (30). Young saw his efficiency from the field dip this season, though that was probably partially due to a right Achilles issue that made him a regular on the Hawks' injury report. He connected on a career-low 41.1 percent of his field-goal attempts, and his 34.0 percent clip from three-point range was his lowest since his rookie season (2018-19). Young finished the regular season averaging a career-best 11.6 assists along with 24.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 36.0 minutes per contest.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Good to go Friday

Young (Achilles) is available for Friday's Play-In Game against the Heat, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Young has been a mainstay on the injury report due to right Achilles tendinitis, though he'll shake off a probable tag and suit up in Friday's elimination game. The star point guard has averaged 27.8 points, 10.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 36.2 minutes per contest in his last five appearances.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Tossed against Orlando

Young was ejected from Tuesday's Play-In Game against the Magic during the fourth quarter after being assessed two technical fouls, Mason Williams of SI.com reports. Young was seemingly hit in the mouth on the offensive end but didn't get the call, per Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He later kicked the ball on the other end of the floor before being ejected from Tuesday's contest. The star point guard will finish the game with 28 points (8-21 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 11-12 FT), six assists, two rebounds and a steal across 40 minutes.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Good to go Tuesday

Young (Achilles) is available for Tuesday's Play-In Game against the Magic, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Young has been a mainstay on the injury report all season due to right Achilles tendinitis, though he'll suit up Tuesday after sitting out of the club's regular-season finale. The star point guard has recorded four double-doubles over his last five outings, averaging 25.4 points, 11.4 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals across 34.6 minutes per contest in that five-game span.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Likely to play vs. Orlando

Young (Achilles) has been listed as probable to play in Tuesday's game against the Magic, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Young's streak of being tagged probable for games has carried over into the Play-In Tournament, as he is trending toward playing Tuesday. The superstar guard is coming off another successful regular season in which he led the league in assists, averaging a career-high 11.6 per game.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Not playing Sunday

Young (Achilles) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Orlando, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. With the Hawks locked in as the eighth seed in the East, Young will be on the sideline for Sunday's regular-season finale. His absence opens the door for Terance Mann and Keaton Wallace to see more playing time. Young should be available for the Hawks' Play-In Tournament that starts against the Magic on Tuesday.
