The Thunder waived Whitehead on Saturday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Whitehead was snatched up by the Thunder on Oct. 17 on an Exhibit 10 deal in order to secure his G League rights. He's poised to join the Oklahoma City Blue following this move.

Nets' Dariq Whitehead: Plays 10 minutes in finale
Whitehead finished with three points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and one rebound over 10 minutes during Sunday's 113-105 loss to New York.
Whitehead spent considerable time in the G League this season, though he did make 20 appearances at the NBA level. In those games, Whitehead played 12.3 minutes per contest with 5.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.7 three-pointers on 40.6 percent shooting from the field and 60.0 percent from the line.

Whitehead logged 17 points (5-13 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes during Thursday's 105-90 loss to the Timberwolves.
Whitehead scored double-digits for just the third time all season, playing at least 15 minutes for the third straight game. While this was an encouraging performance by Whitehead, it remains to be seen whether he will stick as a consistent part of the rotation for the remainder of the season.

Playing in just his fifth career game, the second-year forward posted multiple career highs for the shorthanded Nets. Fantasy managers will obviously need to see him do it again, but Whitehead is worth monitoring in deeper fantasy formats with the Nets dealing with several injuries on top of their veterans being rumored to be available on the trade market.
