Claxton amassed 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-4 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and one block across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 117-112 loss to the Hawks.
Claxton recorded his first double-double of the season, a welcome sight after a somewhat modest start to the campaign. He also recorded his first block of the season, something managers will be hoping is the first of many. Through five games, Claxton is averaging 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.0 combined steals and blocks. Brooklyn has already shown its hand when it comes to what this season might look like, and that'll mean sporadic production for Claxton.

Nets' Nic Claxton: Flirts with double-double in loss
Claxton put up 10 points (5-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, four assists and three steals across 31 minutes in Friday's 131-124 loss to Cleveland.
Claxton has scored in double digits in both games to start the season, but has yet to record a block or a three-pointer. Cam Thomas and Michael Porter handled the brunt of Brooklyn's scoring Friday, as both ended the game with 33 and 31 points respectively, but expect Claxton to be involved a little more offensively in games where either aren't scorching hot from the field.

Nets' Nic Claxton: Scores 17 in loss
Claxton contributed 17 points (8-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 136-117 loss to Charlotte.
Claxton led the Nets in scoring during their season-opening loss, reaching 17 points -- a mark he hit or surpassed just six times last season. However, he pulled down only four rebounds, a notable dip from the 7.4 boards he averaged across 70 regular-season games last year and his 7.7 career average. While Brooklyn overhauled its roster with many new additions, particularly through the draft, Claxton remains entrenched as the team's starting center.

Nets' Nic Claxton: Secures preseason double-double
Claxton recorded 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-1 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in 28 minutes during Friday's 119-114 preseason loss to the Raptors.
Claxton posted a strong showing on the offensive end and was one of two starters to score in double digits. The big man also showed up on the boards, where he snagged a team-high 11 rebounds. Claxton will be in search of a bounce-back campaign heading into the 2025-26 regular season after seeing a noticeable dip in his scoring and rebounding averages a year ago.

Claxton posted 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT) and eight rebounds across 15 minutes in Saturday's 123-88 exhibition game win over Hapoel Jerusalem.
Claxton nearly secured a double-double in limited playing time during the team's preseason opener, and he was one of four Nets players to score in double figures. Claxton was hampered by a back issue for the majority of the 2024-25 season. He said he's had "a really good offseason," however, setting him up for a potential bounce-back campaign. Despite being limited, Claxton put up regular-season averages of 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.4 blocks on 56.3 percent from the field and 51.3 percent from the line in 2024-25.

Claxton played fewer than 20 minutes for the third straight game, one of which he missed altogether due to rest purposes. Given the Nets have well and truly packed it in for the season, it is somewhat surprising to see Claxton on the active roster. With that said, health has been an issue in the past, so it is certainly encouraging that he is giving it a go, despite the fact that wins are not on the agenda.
