Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Sticking in Dallas
Gafford is expected to sign a three-year contract extension worth approximately $60 million with the Mavericks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
This new deal will keep Gafford in Dallas through the 2028-29 campaign. The big man put up solid numbers across the board during 2024-25, averaging 12.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.8 blocks in 57 regular-season appearances (31 starts).

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Positive impact in loss
Gafford had five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 18 minutes during Friday's 120-106 Play-In Game loss to the Grizzlies.
Despite the Mavericks suffering a season-ending loss Friday, Gafford posted a team-high plus-six point differential. Gafford made 57 regular-season appearances during his first full season in Dallas and started in 31 games, splitting time at center with Dereck Lively. Across Gafford's 57 outings, he averaged 12.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.4 assists in 21.5 minutes.

Gafford isn't part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Kings, Christian Clark of The Athletic reports.
Gafford drew a spot start during the Mavericks' final regular-season game due to the absence of Dereck Lively. With Lively healthy, Gafford will return to the second unit. In his last six games, Gafford is averaging 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks across 18.7 minutes.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Efficient in regular-season finale
Gafford contributed 20 points (8-10 FG, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 19 minutes during Sunday's 132-97 loss to the Grizzlies.
Gafford got the start Sunday due to the absence of Dereck Lively (ankle), and the big man made the most of the opportunity by posting a solid fantasy line, all while displaying his efficient touch near the rim. Gafford has been limited to only three starts since the All-Star break, although he did miss considerable time due to a knee injury that forced him to miss 21 games between Feb. 12 and March 29. He's likely to play off the bench in the postseason, with the Mavericks likely starting Anthony Davis (groin) and Lively in Wednesday's matchup against the Kings in the Play-In Tournament.
