Hornets' Collin Sexton: Riding with second unit
Sexton is coming off the bench in Thursday's game against Orlando, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The Hornets will give Sion James a look in the first unit, breaking up a three-game start streak for Sexton. Sexton logged 17 minutes in his lone reserve outing this year, so he could find difficulty in cracking the 20-minute marker.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Strong line despite loss
Sexton contributed 18 points (7-11 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and six assists across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 144-117 loss to Miami.
With Brandon Miller (shoulder) sidelined for at least the immediate future, coach Charles Lee is likely to lean on Sexton for his leadership and ball-handling abilities. The veteran is off to a great start in Charlotte, posting averages of 18.5 points, 4.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.5 three-pointers through four regular-season contests.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Scores 21 points in loss to Sixers
Sexton produced 21 points (7-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), two rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Saturday's 125-121 loss to the 76ers.
Sexton finished second on the team in scoring with his 21 points against the Sixers on Saturday night. Across two outings with his new franchise, the 26-year-old is averaging 18.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 turnovers in 23.6 minutes per game. Sexton has been the starter alongside LaMelo Ball in Charlotte's backcourt to begin the year, and his next chance to produce will come against the Wizards on Sunday.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Starting Saturday
Sexton will start in Saturday's game against the 76ers.
The 26-year-old guard will supplant Kon Knueppel in the starting five on Saturday. Sexton logged 17 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's season-opening win over the Nets, posting 15 points (4-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three assists, one rebound and one steal.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Not starting Wednesday
Sexton will come off the bench in Wednesday's regular season opener against the Nets.
Sexton started Charlotte's preseason finale with a lot of key guys getting hit with a rest day, but he'll return to a reserve role Wednesday night. He should still be able to provide some points, triples and assists as a member of the second unit, but his upside will be capped.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Scores 21 points with 10 assists
Sexton recorded 21 points (6-9 FG, 5-6 3PT, 4-4 FT), 10 assists, two rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes during Friday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Knicks.
Sexton was able to operate as the primary conductor on offense with LaMelo Ball (knee) and Brandon Miller (wrist) taking the night off, and he made the most of the opportunity despite committing nine turnovers. Sexton will likely helm Charlotte's second unit this season, but as long as Ball and Miller are healthy, his upside will be capped.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Back to bench Wednesday
Sexton is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's preseason game against Memphis.
While he started Saturday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Sexton will instead come off the bench Wednesday as the Hornets tinker with their starting lineup. Given LaMelo Ball's lengthy injury history, Sexton has some contingent upside in fantasy leagues this season if Ball were to go down.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Starting against Dallas
Sexton is in the starting lineup for Saturday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Sexton is one of the players competing for a role in the Hornets' backcourt, but he should be a lock to make the rotation even if he comes off the bench. Sexton had 15 points and two assists in a preseason loss to the Thunder on Thursday.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Looks sharp in 15 minutes
Sexton produced 15 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two assists, one rebound and one steal in 15 minutes of Thursday's 122-116 preseason loss to the Thunder.
Sexton came off the bench for the second game in a row Thursday, but he made a big impact in this one. Kon Knueppeland Tre Mann have each started one preseason game so far, but based on coach Charles Lee's comments, Sexton may get a chance to showcase what he can in the first unit as well -- Lee mentioned the Hornets may base their starters on the matchups.

Hornets' Collin Sexton: Candidate to start based on matchup
Head coach Charles Lee suggested Sunday that Sexton could be a candidate to start this season, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Lee also mentioned Kon Knueppel, who started Sunday's preseason opener against the Thunder, and Tre Mann as possibilities for a starting role in 2025-26. With this situation in a state of flux, matchups could dictate who gets the nod in the first unit on a game-to-game basis. Sexton should still play a significant role as a scorer off the bench, as he averaged 18.4 points, 4.2 assists and 1.7 three-pointers in 27.9 minutes per game in 63 regular-season contests for the Jazz in 2024-25.
